Sunday's Sprint Cup race broadcast earned ABC a 2.8 rating in the Nielsen overnights, Street and Smith’s SportsBusiness Daily and SceneDaily.com reported.

According to the Nielsen Media Research, that represents a decline of 17.6 percent.

ABC garnered a 3.4 rating for last fall's race at Phoenix International Raceway, but part of that event was switched to ESPN2.

I got a call from Bill France asking me to call off the boycott .We're meeting on the west lawn of the white house for a beer next week.

I think with a certain Johnson 4th straight cup no one wanted to watch!;shrug

A few years back I wouldn't go without watching the races. Here lately I could care less. For me it has nothing to do with JJ on his way to a 4th cup. What has been turning me off to Nascar, was when they had all the bs going on with the sponsers. Nextel telling RCR that the 31 team could not be sponsered by AT&T (they still do little AT&T sponsered questions and little race highlights but they are not allowed to sponser a car), when they told Harvick that his shell Logo on his hat and car were to big. Those guys were suing and going to court over that stuff.
Nascar seems to let thier Golden Children run free as well. Some people can get away with running over others on the track and others will get penalized for it. Some drivers get told to settle down on the track and others are incouraged to do whatever it takes.
These days I would rather spend my Sunday or Saturday visiting a local car show or working on some of my many projects. Alot of times I would rather just get all the dog poop out of my yard than watch the race.

I used to be a ravenous NASCAR fan but the last few years have been an absolute bore. Part of it is the COT because there is no brand identity and doesn't mean anything to have a Ford, Chevy, Dodge, Toyota, Honda, Yugo, whatever...
I applaud JJ for the all but wrapped up championship but the racing is a joke and is terribly boring to watch for the most part. They screwed up Bristol with the repaving, all the cookie cutter 1.5 mile tracks are dull.
I'll have the race on but have fallen asleep watching them, left them to do something else more or less productive, or turned it off to watch reruns of Mythbusters or whatever else is on TV.
The only reason I care about the results is because of the neighborhood Fantasy Racing pool that I am currently in the lead for.
