Have narrowed down my choice of a cat back to Borla or Magnaflow. I think the Borla's have a nicer, deeper tone. I am going to install an x-pipe as well. I would welcome comments about Borla interior resonance. Is it always there at "x" rpm? Does x-pipe help?

Lyle,

The Borlas do have some resonance issues, as do most of the after market systems. The Borla's, on a C5, are notorious for a resonacce at right around 1500-1700 RPM. As far as the X-Pipe goes, it will reduce some of the "popping" sounds you get on decelaration but not all of it. The Borlas are a fairly low restriction system and as a result they make some noise. Not unpleasant but a little more than some of the other systems - like the Corsa Touring systems for example.

thanks for the input, I think I'm also going to follow up with some of the other threads in here about the insultation to reduce noise, etc. I think I crave that low rumble enough to put up with some extra noise. The wife probably wouldn't agree, but she doesn't get to drive it anyway.

Wish you were closer to Washington state......I LOVE my Corsa Indy's with with the Bassani X-Pipe......absolutely quiet at cruise and wondrous at WOT....no burbling at idle or on compression..........definitely the "big boy toy" sound for me....

you know, that's the thing, everyone generally loves what they have. You have the borla camp, the corsa camp, few BB's, some Basani. Corsa has a little more medium sound at idle, I've notice, and a more ripping sound at WOT. Borla seems to have a mroe bass, rumble at iddle and lower roar (not volume) at WOT. Really, a question of what you like more. I seem to think Borla has that more of old 60's muscle car rumble to it, while Corsa seems to have a little more of a perhaps sophisticated, sound. Borla is more low, raw, V8 sount, while the Corsa, seems a little more refined, like a well oiled machine that just got really ****ed off. Probably just can't go wrong with either of 'em.

Hey I just had Borla Stingers with quad Ovals installed yesterday....Boy what a sound !!!! Now it sounds like a Corvette should.....as far as Exhaust Systems goes......To each his/her own................Shine,Cruz, and Smile !!!!
