90coupe

I have a 90 Coupe with the wonderful Bose radio. It doesn't work (I tried the caps in the speakers) and would like to replace it prior to a road trip. The manual says on a 90, the control unit is in the dash and the actual radio in the storage compartment behind the passenger's seat. Would you believe the compartment is empty? So. on my July built '90 do I have an '89 radio? What is a good replacement for the radio head? Anyone have a good setup at a reasonable price?

Any ideas/advice will be appreciated!

My '93 bose (which doesn't work very good either) is underneath the rear storage compartment. You need to take out the tray, pull the carpet out and the unit is velcro attatched to the side wall.

Thanks for the reply, I hadn't pulled the carpet out so that's what I'll do tonight.

Are all Bose systems this bad? I had a Bose in my 300ZX before it was totalled, and it (the Bose) was a total piece of junk. Im just wondering the system will last in my C5.

I hate to tell you, but yes it is a pile of junk. Call any radio repair shop, Crutchfield, Aduio King, Best Buy etc.. The comments are interesting. I guess I'll replace mine. I would like to keep the nice stock look but would also like to hear some tunes.

Good Luck!

I thought the C4 system was a real pile of crap until my Dad bought a C5 'vert... The bose in the C5 sounds worse than any other new car on the road IMO. I wish Corvette would get a different manufacturer to make the stereos in 'Vettes....

I think the Bose in my 300Z was actually mfg'd by Clarion. They just stuck the Bose name on it. I also had a Clarion in my truck, which I bought new. It lasted about 2 months before it went south. Looks like quality hasnt improved much. They should be gold-plated considering what they cost.
