Brake Dust Protection

Does anyone know of a product that will put a protective coating on painted wheels to keep brake dust from digging into the painted surface and causing problems on the wheels? I have a 1996 Collector Edition Corvette with sebring silver painted wheels. I can drive a mile or two to the store and back and find a layer of brake dust on the wheels! Some brake dust has penetrated the paint and marred the wheels slightly. I have tried several things to remove the brake dust, but would welcome a product that puts a protective coating on wheels and repells brake dust! Any such product out there?

Yep, car wax.

I have the same wheels you do on your Vette and because the wheels are painted and clear coated, I apply a coat of Glaze and then a coat of wax over that, same as I would the rest of the body. It doesn't prevent brake dust from sticking to the wheels, but I have found that it is does help deter it.

what I use on mine is PAM cooking spray. Just clean them real well and lightly dust the wheels with the spray. When you wash the car spray the wheels and it comes off. Dust sticks to the spray not the wheels.
