Brake fluid leak?

When mounting the calipers after a A-arm job, I depressed the valves to enter calipers to the rotors. Some brake fluid leaked out of the caliper pistons during this process. Is this as it should be, do they usually leak when standing fully extracted over a period, or do I need to change some parts? ;help

You need to change some parts!! Most likely calipers have some rust in the cylinder bores!!:ugh

Thanks for fast answer. Have now splitted the caliper, removed the seals and pistons, no visible damage, free of rust. Cleaned and reassambled it. Wonder if it was leaking because I bendt one piston out of sealing range during my first mounting. :)

Yes, if you aren't careful and the piston comes to far out of the bore it can cock and leak past the lip seal. This is normal, but better safe than sorry. Check them out.

Seems like that´s the case. But it was o.k. to have them checked. Have reassambled now, bleeded them, and they work fine, no leaks. Think I will order those clamps to keep the pads pressed in for the other side..... :cool
