The '81 I bought had a (really dark) tinted back window so when I disassembled the brake light housing to get at the windoiw to remove the tint I discovered that the brake light had no (red) lense in front of the bulb. I'm guessing that the previous owner removed it so the light would be bright enough to be seen through the tint.
I got to looking through the various catalog's (Eckler's - Mid-America, etc.) and couldn't find any mention of a red lense. I found the brake light assembly (as a whole), but not just the lense.
That got me to wondering if there is a red lense over the brake light in the first place. Since I don't have another '81 in the neighborhood to check out I thought I'd toss out the question here. Am I going to have to buy the whole assembly or is the proper bulb red (since it fits up close to the back window)?
I'd appreciate any help,
Thanks,
