I had the brakes done last year and it included the left rear caliper and master cylinder....this season and right at the end of last, i noticed a popping sound when i approached stop and just started rolling from a stop. so i took the tires of and it looked like the right rear rotor had stripes on it...like vibration marks...so i figure the caliper may be bad...replace it and notice the pad on the inner side had worn tappered...being about .06 smaller at the top than the bottom...also it was worn thinner than the outside.i replaced the pads also...and i still have the popping sound...it seems to only happen when it gets warm...not always doing it, but dont seem to do it right away.should i just pull the rotors off both sides and have them turned?...i seem to be short on options:hb ...any opinion appreciated.
Thanks, Chas

:w Chas,

So it makes this "popping" sound when you apply the brakes AND when releasing to start movement??

It sounds like the calipers aren't applying equal pressure to the pads :confused or I noticed a clicking sound when applying the brakes or moving from a stop, and I found it to be the "after market" brake pads where just a tad too small and would slide forward and backwards making the noise, I replaced them with GM pads and noise went away ;)

Maybe someone else can shed more light on your problem, or one of our vettebrakes supporting members will chime in ;)

Stopping is pretty darn important, eh :D

could they be too tight going into the caliper? not releasing ... getting stuck ... thats the way it seems...im going to get the gm pads then...the calipers both are rebuilt delco stamped calipers , so i feel i good enough parts other than the pads...they were off brand from murrays so you may be right on target.thanks for your help Bud:pat
