Ok, not my real neck, but my steering colum. I did the search here, but
did not find what i need. So please help.
On my last 80, 81, and this 81, the colum tilt will break loose while
hard useage. If you pull down hard enough, it will snap loose also.
only to the down position. Was this normal, or is this wear. I have a total
of about 55000 original miles. is there a kit to fix this?
I know I am not alone here. What has anyone done?
THANKS :confused

I need help C-3 owners, or does no one reply due to the
topic sounding like SPAM lol ;)

if i holdon to the wheel and pull back trying to lift up my back side i have had it come out of gear i guess, but it only does it if im really honking down on it, no pun intended....im not worried about it, only did it once or twice...

I think not having power steering has a lot to do with it.
because when I did have power steering, mine did just like your's.
I just want to know if there is a cure for this, or just a weak link
in the colum from the factory. thanks

Mine moves downward to the left for some reason. It really ****es me off.

colum

DUDE, I know exactly what you mean!
but I dont understand why no one will reply to the help of the
matter.

realized something today....

when we get out of these cars the steering wheel takes most of our weight as we hoist ourselfs out of the low seat...i am not into physics but i bet pulling on it with the leverage and pressure we put on it times the amount of times someone got out of it..mine is 31 yrs old.....that joint seems to get alot of abuse.....i put my wheel up every time i get in and out...i have only had it move unexpectedly 2 or 3 times .....i am gonna try to take it easy on that thing from here on out.

I don't know if this helps, but I used to have an 87 camaro with a tilt wheel. It also used to get really loose (could move the entire wheel left and right). I took it to a mechanic and he did fix it by tightening it back up again. Several years later, it did get loose again. To the point of being able to move the steering wheel almost over into the passenger side seat. Instead of getting it fixed, I got rid of the car.
