Hello,

my radiator drain plug seems to be broken... After changing a small hose (for interior heating), I started the Vette (1986 C4) and let it heat for a while in order to verify that the new hose was well-thighten. But, suddenly, a great amount of water started to flow from the bottom of the radiator. I stop the engine and found a part of the drain plug on the floor.
As the other part of this plug is in the radiator, I'd like to know if it is possible to replace it (before I think that I have to find the other part inside the radiator)?
Where can I find online such a plug (I don't live in the US and can't simply go to a local dealer) ? Perhaps these plugs are standards on all GM cars ??

I think the plug might be quite generic for GM cars, probably not all GM cars but maybe the V8 powered cars since they usually have bigger radiators because they need more cooling.

Let us know how it goes, if all else fails, I'll send one to you in France. I don't think I've ever sent anything to France so I'm trying to touch all the countries!:L

Thanks,

I can deduce from your post that I can replace the part. Fine ! I'll try to find it in my country next week. I'll even try to find if some european cars (made by GM like Opel) are plugged with a similar plug.

Its known as a "Drain Cock"

You'll most likely have to pull the radiator out to see where that broken piece is. Needle nose pliers should be able to get it out.

This is it !

It is broken in the middle... I hope that the broken piece is still in the bottom of the radiator. In that case, I'll only have to open the cap and use a light to find it.
Thanks for the good name, I'll try to purchase it online.
