Thinking about converting my 77 to bubble taillights. It says in the catalogs that you don't have to permanently change anything to install them but will lose back up lights. Unfortunately I live in Pennsylvania where I need to have back up lights to pass inspection. Is the conversion simple enough that I will be able to change over to the back-up light configuration for inspection then switch it back to the bubble lights. Would only have to do this once a year so doesn't have to be too simple. Thanks everyone for your help, this forum is great , has helped me a lot with getting my Vette staightened out.

I changed to bubble tail lights on my '72. It is only a tail lens change. No wiring of any sort is involved. If you need back-up lights for your state inspection you can simply reinstall the original lenses before you get the inspection done. The bubble lights look very kewl.

I wish it was that simple and cheap on my '77 but from the parts shown in the catalog it looks like I need to splice in some new sockets etc. What the heck, doesn't look like it should be that involved and I do like the look so gonna go for it.

I recently replaced the back up lights on my '69 with inner taillights like on a '68. I prefer the look of four tail and brake lights instead of two taillights and two back up lights. I didn't use bubble lenses though, I stayed with the original-style lenses. But the wiring splice was the same, and it was extremely easy for anyone with minimal mechanical ability. The hardest part is getting your hands up there with the mufflers in the way.
