H1,my friend has a 66 body with nothing on it and he's got a complet 76 minus engine that he could use for parts to build up his 66.
Do you guys know if it's a good idea to use the 76 as a doner for : frame, suspension, rear end, brakes, ect..... to build his 66 or should he just buy 66 parts. Or maybe use a c4 for parts!!!
Please give us some help on what can be used to keep it affordable.
P.S he is not building a concors vette so having to fabricate lot of parts is not a problem,
Thanks.

Most of the suspension components can be used on a 66.

The 76 frame is similar to the 66, except for some big differences that will be difficult to remedy, especially without having a 66 frame in front of you to use as a guide. For example:

- The rear behind the rear wheels rises higher on the 76 frame and is set up to fit the "rubber ducky" rear end.

- There are braces to the rear wheel kickup that have to be altered or removed.

- The transmission crossmember is a bit different (may not be an issue with the 76 running gear)

- The front of the frame is also different to accomodate the later front end rather than the brackets for midyear bumpers, and I suspect the radiator support mounts are placed differently.

You might try contacting vendors that repair Corvette frames to see what they might be able to provide in services for what price, or what they'd recommend... for example:
