I'm currently experiencing the "puff of smoke" on startup, as described in the referenced service bulletin but it doesn't seem to be a major problem.

Question: Was there a recall campaign (at manufacturer cost) to install these newer valve stem seals and if so, would that campaign still be in effect?

If not, I'm content to leave things alone as the engine is running like a top and I see no need to replace anything at this time.

I haven't owned an L98 without the puff on startup. I could be wrong, but I don't think chevy will replace the seals for free. With that being said, I would just let it be.

if ya find out or even have a valid address to write to and receive a response, let me/us know!......there was also something about a tie rod arm piece mounted just above the rear gear box that, if it goes, one could lose control and crash. to me, that is more important....thanks!
