I will be getting my C3 painted in the next few months and need to replace the rear bumper cover before I do. It is a little warped/distorted from age and sun. Anyone have any experience with the fiberglass replacements ? Or just go with another poly.
Seems they are about the same price. ($300). Thanks.

I too am considering replacing the rear bumper on my '77 with the fiberglass '80-'82 style with the spoiler built-in and would like to know any feedback as well.

:v

Mine came with the latter style nose and butt

I like them and probably would have changed them too it eventually anyhow.

That rear has to give you a little downforce...and the styling looks good. Many vette purists will hate you though.

One thing I wish the previous owners hadn't done is do the stupid back-up light elimination thingy.

I LIKE to be able to see behind me at night!

(Unfortunately it does look better, I have to admit, so I am trying to come up with a way to rig "hidden" backup lights.)

Ive replaced alot of these bumpers and it all depends on what you do with the car.If you drive it alot and it sits outside in the sun alot, use the fiberglass. They dont fit that well but if your going to paint the car you can do some triming and filling to make it fit better.
The poly bumpers are for ncrs and cars that dont see alot of daily use.I say this mainly because of that warping and distorting problem. But,they do fit alot better.
Also, let me make another suggestion, after you have pre fit and trimmed and filled to make everything fit good ,paint the car apart. It makes for a better job .Here is a pic of a 74 that I did awhile back for somebody. http://www.engelsrestoration.com/

Paintdaddy - you mentioned something in another thread...

..and I can't find it!

I need to touch up the black carpet strips on my doors on my PoS.

You said there was a dye you could easily apply from Walmart?
(Somebody else said something about using another dye in a spray bottle...)

Do you happen to remember the name of that product or even what section it was located in?

Hey,The dye from walmart is a real dye.I am not sure what isle I seen it in and cant remember brand name.Ive also seen it at grocery stores in the laundry isle. The other stuff works ok for looks but leaves the carpet stiff like its been sprayed with hairspray.Let me know how well it works:beer
