Burned rubber for the first time last night!

......I have been REALLY babying my newly rebuilt L79 motor (about 1200 miles)......until last night. Went for a drive with my neighbors wife per his request (great looking blonde lady wink wink nudge nudge)........and just got into it a bit more than usual!........WOW! The car does run great!.......laid the rubber grabbing 2nd gear....not a huge patch, but long enough! I have not done that since college!......I was a bit suprised, really wasn't trying at all!

I have to tell you nothing is more exciting to me then yanking that shifter down into fourth and still having the tires break loose.

Sounds like that [grabbing 2nd gear] could become habit forming, and I won't even touch the rest of the story

I was at a bike race (dirt track racing) in York, PA a number of years ago when I still rode bikes and between races they were holding burnout contests. A guy on a hopped-up Harley did a similair type of burnout. Holding in the front brake he just held the bike in place and let her rip than turned cirles one way and than the other, etc. When he finally stopped I looked at his rear tire and it heated up so much the rubber was literally melting off in threads. That tire was ruined! I sure hope he lived close or brought that bike to the show on a truck because no way he was riding it home in that condition. I also hoped he had fun doing it because in about 25-30 seconds he destroyed a $150 rear tire

Well, I guess some people have more money than sense.

On the other hand, that truck burnout was INCREDIBLE!!
