Ok guys my bother is tring to get a vette, he is looking at two. A 91 L98 with 106,000 miles for $6000 with good paint and inter is good also or a 92 LT1with 150,000 miles for $6250 with good paint but both sets are in bad shape. What is the one he needs to buy?

I'd go with the '91 for the lower mileage and the better condition.

Make sure that they are both mechanically sound, though.

I'll agree...the one with lower mileage is the one I'd choose. BUT...as Erik said, there is a whole lot more to check out first!!

Hi.
While the low mileage is a safe bet, I just wanted to give my 2 cents worth.
My L98, 1990 coupe has over 127,000 miles and is in great shape. Mechanically, the engine starts at the touch of the key, and is a great daily drive, and is a good roadworthy car. Body-wise it is still in great shape also.
It comes down to who owned the car, how it was treated, and if there are or were any speed alterations or after-market equipment installed, and was it ever raced or dragged.
Tom.

Crawl underneath and look for damage to the oil pan and the underside of the storage compartments. If these areas are banged up, it was definitly abuse on and off road.

If it was me, I'd look the 91 over REAL good, or have an expert shop look it over. If it's good I'd pick a L-98 with the lower mileage. The LT-1 engine can be problem prone if it's water pump goes or water gets inside the optispark unit. either can be expensive to fix. The L-98 is a tried and true engine. I'm not knocking LT-1's but we all know their history. Running good, their awesome !
