I brought rear shocks for my 1994 vette, and they don't seems to fit. I called the dealer an he said I may have a custom suspension how do I know that, it has bilstien shock on it right now. I was going to put on Part # 26223 Shock,KYB Rr wo Adj Susp. but I can't see how these will go on. :confused

Much help is appricated.

What part doesn't fit? Are they too long or too short? Wrong ends?

They don't look the the bilstien that I took off...there is no may I can mount it on top unless I take the stuff off of the old one which I tried, but it wouldn't come off.

Also the mounting for the lower end is not the same, do I take off the parts and put them on the new shock, this look so wrong. the dealer Eclkers thinks I have a custume suspension, whick I am not sure.

Do you have the adjustable suspension with the Blistein shocks? Should have a control switch on the console that has three positions. If so, then you need a set of replacement shocks to replace the adjustable Blisteins.

Vette-dude,
No I don't have a Control switch, is that from the factory, or is that something they put on after market.

The shock that I took off the rear has a oval plate on the top to screw in the wheel well, and the bottom has and extender that slide in the hole and then I put a bolt on.
but when I brought new shock it doesn't have these thing on it it look like your pic you sent me..do I have to transfer these thing to the new shock and if so I can't get the top piece off the old shock

Can you post a pic?? Something doesn't sound correct.

PS: Sorry the switch for the addj. susp. is a factory item. Look under your console lid and find the code for your suspension type and we can run it down.

I just got a fax from MID AMERICA MOTORWORKS and I understand this much better, how do I take off the (shock Absorber Upper Bracket) it just keeps turning when I try to take the nut off the top of the old shock.

There should be a flat on the top of the threaded portion that you can hold with an adjustable wrench and then use another wrench to turn the nut.(I usually just use an air wrench and it does the trick but you can do it the way I explained also.) Squirting the threaded portion with some PB Blaster or liquid wrench will make things alot easier. (After I last posted I suspected that you were talking about the upper shock bracket and was getting ready to ask you if that might be the case.) I always undo the top nut before removing the bottom bolt. It helps to keep the top stable. Hope this makes some sense. Good luck, you can do it. Just take your time.

Thank you dude, I will try it tonight and let you know how it goes.
