C-5 Peeling Tops

Who else has problems with the outside of the glass top tint peeling away? I've gone to a tint specialist and he said they don't have tint large enough to cover as a single piece and that it would take 2 strips. Ideas/solutions?

My 2000 is doing the same thing but only a strip on the passenger side. I have tried to buff it out but it is still faintly visible. I am open to suggestions.

I contacted Harkema MotorSports and they said it is not a film but a coating that was put on the acrylic. The only solution, unfortunately, is to buy a new roof or get it stripped and painted. They are willing to take both my tops ( assuming the frames are good) in as a core exchange and credit me $200.00 towards the new roof. The roof would be $535.00 plus shipping. Their info is below.

My roof has watermarks and part of it is fading on the passenger side. I think they were poorly designed!

My 1998 started doing the same thing after about 4 years, I just lived with the problem for about 6 months since I was trading it in.

I never did anything to cause the problem, garage every night, handwash, etc. Just cheap wear and tear I guess?

No I have not gotten my new top yet as I'm still deployed overseas. If anyone gets one from www.corvettetops.com or any other company that puts out a good product then please let us know.

My '97 appeared to have lost some kind of clearcoat along the leading edge of the top. It also lost a one inch wide stripe the whole length of the top on the middle of the passenger side. I traded the car for my '02 Z06 and I noticed that the dealer did not get it repaired before the car went to his lot for sale. The top was also crazed throughout if you looked through it from the correct angle. I used an aftermarket static cling opaque screen during the summer. I don't know whether that contributed in any way. I doubt that it did, but it is possible.
