I am trying to plan ahead as much as possible and was looking at my photos of the stock rear end. In the stock set up, the brake line comes back to the rear via a steel line, then when it gets to the back it has a hose that jumps from the frame to the rear axle housing. There is a steel brake line that goes across the rear housing to each brake cylinder.

So what set up do most people do when they put a new system in? I am thinking that perhaps the way for me to go is to run the steel lines to the back across the top (attach to the upper cross bracket that the shocks mount to at the top) and drop hoses to each side of the axle housing.....so what set up did you use...and any thoughts on what I am getting ready to do?

Use the same design as the stock setup, with one flex hose from the center of the frame to the pumpkin and a tee and hard lines to the wheel cylinders. If you use a separate hose for each side, they'll have a LOT of movement to absorb; one in the center sees very little vertical motion.

makes sense....just want to make sure that I do have it...get the hard line over to the center shock mount bar and drop one hose down from there to the center of the axle housing as opposed to my set up that came with my car (I have no idea if that was the stock set up or not) but in this case the brake lines came down the passenger side frame rail and had one hose that dropped down on the passenger rear wheel and attached to the distribution block that went to the wheel cylinders on both sides. There was a brake line that ran the length of the axle housing.

In the solution you are proposing, I would drop one hose in the center and run both ways to the wheel cylinders....is that right?

Also, what is the best way to attach the brake lines to the axle housing? I want them to look good, tight and tidy so to speak.....do you have any photos and suggested suppliers that I would be able to get the bits and pieces from?

thanks!

The photo you show has pretty much the original setup and line/hose routing, which will work fine; the image below shows the production setup, which had a welded bracket for the distribution tee and welded-on bend-over clips to retain the pipes to the axle tubes.
