1966,and a 1962 thats almost complete
So as some of you know I am building a sort-of custum 1962.I had planned on a custom set of door panels that I had made up,with these real cool arm rest and door openers, and had planned on two tonning with black and yellow leather.

Well all though I am not in love with the original styled ones,I want to retain a stock interior for a more classic look.

Anyways I converted my car to a power window car and plan on ordering
Al knoch door panels ( every thing else I got from him was perfect ) and I am just wondering where does the power window switch mount in a 62?

will the set up for the power windows work in a 60? if so, where did you get it?

You have a lot of great ideas.....I hope you don't mind sharing the brain power....

I am not too falmilur with the C1's to know if they would fit in your car.I will get you the phone number tonight of the place I got them from.(its the same place who makes the replacement wiper system for our cars Specialties power windows) They are a direct fit bolt in set up and they include the needed raceways for the door jambs. I treid some of the hot rod kits and could not get them to work

They are a direct fit

As for sharing information thats whats it all about. Chances are John Mcgraw told me about them

Larry,

The window switch on all C1 cars mounts on the door panel, way forward of the original window crank handle. Look on the door, and you should see a square hole at the top inside edge of the door, right where the door makes the curve back to the door post. this is the location of the switch. Al's panels should have the switch location marked on the back of the door panel. Be sure that you tell him that you are using power windows so he does not cut out the holes for the cranks. My memory of his panels, is that both locations are marked on the rear, but neither are cut through to the front side. I just finished fabricating my panels last night, and will try to post some pics tonight. I started out with ABS plastic for the backing rather than the cardboard that is original. While I kept the stock design, I added some depth to the door uppers for a nicer look, and fabricated some brushed stainless door metals to replace the stamped aluminum ones. Should give a nice clean look while keeping the original design theme.

Regards, John

Thanks john.I had mocked up set of panels, and was going to do a 2 tone on them black and yellow. top side black flowing away from the dash pad and then the bottom, a thick dimentional (padded ) yellow But it did not fit with the classic design of the car.

So I am going back to stock. As a matter of fact my dash cluster is yellow to match the car color and I may repaint it black because it looks out of balance.A yellow wrapped dash bar on passenger side looks ricer like and when I put a black one in it looks out of balance (yellow on the driver side and black on the passenger)

We will see what happens. Allthough this type of a car build is a blast.I am shocked that I am actually looking for balance in the car. My wife watches these decorating shows on TV and i hear them talk about balancing a room or a wall and I am thinking "what a bunch of fruits"

I sure hope I am not turning into a fruit

Larry,

I know what you mean. If you notice, I have changed the instrument cluster from red to a match to the interior color. I really did not want it to draw that much attention. I am hoping for an interior, that will be subtle. I wanted the truly knowledgable person to be able to tell what is different, but I want it to look to the casual observer as if it is the original interior from 45 years ago! The upholster called tonight and told me that the carpets are ready to be picked up. I went with a nice, 100% wool square weave carpet, that should look real nice. Not cheap material, but it should wear like iron and look elegant for many years. With any luck, I should have the carpets installed by this weekend. I made templates of all the carpets and just took them over to him to be sewn. This way I did not have to leave the car! I still have not decided what to do with the mufflers, I will probably not change them this summer, but I am sure that they will drive me to drink on the highway! I should be able to set off every car alarm in my parking garage at work with the ones that I have now!

Regards, John McGraw

John I know your recovering from surgery but you have to update us with some pictures of where your at with the car.

I ordered my door panels today from Al Knoch today so I dont waver on my desision. I have a local fellow that wants to purchase the ones I had mocked up for my car (all they need is a little bit of foam and leather and there ready to go on)

I am just not 100% yet with repainting the cluster I will have to see if the glove shelf balances it out.

As for your mufflers I have heard that it takes about 1000 miles or so for some carbon to build up in a muffler before you here its tru tone

Best of luck and keep us posted.

as long it's it's "decorating" a car it's OK but if it makes you feel any better than just go ahead and have a big thick piece of red meat for dinner and and any fruitiness will be eliminated. ;LOL

Larry,

Got my carpets tonight and, they look beautiful! the stiching is perfect and the square-weave carpet should look good for many years. My upholstery guy is a real craftsman. At 75 years +, he is not fast, but he is good!
