I talked to the shop that was trying to get the last few things ironed out with the car today. Good news is that after they got the wiring sorted out and hit the key, it fired right up! They need to get a few other things like hoses and such hooked up, but it runs and that is the good thing.

The bad news is exactly what I suspected as I loaded the car up with the remaining parts and that is they really need 3 or 4 more days to get everyhing done. I talked with Bob about pulling the car out and taking it to Carlisle and he agreed that I could do that, except that we will loose where we are at and will have to sort out again where they were and get going again.

Right now I have his ace mechanic's attention, I am afraid if I pull out for the a couple of days that I will not get his full attention when I bring it back since he will be onto other jobs.

Having said that, I have decided to leave the car at the shop. Sharon and I are coming out to Carlisle on Friday and will be heading out on Saturday morning to go see my dad in Virginia. I am disappointed it worked out this way as my dad was going to come up to Carlisle to see the car (he is 84 and was the one that looked the car over for me to begin with).

To everyone that was rooting me on and helping me along the way, I owe all of you a big thank you for the support. Sorry we came up 3 or 4 days short, but the car will be at Carlisle next year!!!

thanks again to everyone!!!

click on the link.....here is the motor running for just a few seconds....it sounds really awesome!!!!

it sounded better in person, the audio doesn't do it justice...just ran it long enough to hear it and know it runs. It needs water lines etc hooked up, this was just cause we could!

Compared to how my 327/365hp 64 Corvette sounds, well lets just say that there is no comparison! More cam and deeper throat to it.....

you will like the snap you get with EFI sounds good.
Craig, all I can say is that the sound was really deep and throaty...all we did was look at each other and smile and laugh! I was amazed at how the car started, no pumping the throttle to get fuel started, you just hit the key and instant start and idle. They haven't even fooled with the computer modifications yet. Nor the timing. That was just as it started out with the canned Ram Jet Crate engine settings. I was amazed! once they get the cooling in place and can really get it tuned and broken in, WOW!

When is the picnic? Perhaps we can have it at my house.....

let me know....I am disappointed that the car isn't going to Carlisle, but really happy for where it is right now. It was 5 months behind schedule from the body shop.....make that only 4 months behind and I am early for Carlisle!

it was last weekend, only the local guys showed and Tom didn't make it until the others left ;LOL its tough to pick a date that suits everyone. Why don't you have one when your car is done, sort of a celebration :upthumbs

and the good news is that you and your car were not in Carlisle during the storm. Someone is watching over you. Have a great weekend.

Everything happens for a reason. Fortunately your car was not done.

given the amount of rain that came down, even if it was there, I don't think the top would have kept that much rain out!

There is next year for sure!!!

Not sure if it will be done by next weekend or not, it will be close....if not I have a garage to clean (looks like a gernade went off in there) and I need to do some work at our old house that we are getting ready to sell.....

Herb...

Just wondering if you have had the
opportinity to drive your car yet ? If so what do you think of the Merers IFS..

Best regards...Stan M.

.....sorry just noticed, that should have been Meyers not Merers IFS

....Stan
not yet, with the Carlisle date coming and going, we have slowed down on getting the rest of it done...I think it is called burn out......I am hoping that it will be in a drive-able mode in the next week or two.....stay tuned!:beer

...Yep...I bet you guys were stressed out ...just not enough time sometimes. A little break might be what the doctor ordered...to make it fun again....

Hope it will be as enjoyable to drive as it looks like it will be...Enjoy..

Stan..
