Am I correct in assuming that the key for the ignition ("Hex" shaped) is for the ignition only and that the the trunk, doors and glove box are all keyed("Round" shaped) the same? The last time I owned a 61 was over 30 years ago and the memory is a little foggy. :)

I don't think so. Not sure. But I believe there's only 1 key - the hex shaped one. Fits everything.

The 2 keys, 1 for the door and 1 for the ignition, so you wouldn't lock your keys in the car, came much later.

C1 cars originally had only one key for all locks and it was a hex key that had GM on one side and Briggs and Stratton on the other. Many people changed the trunk and glovebox locks to a different key so that they could secure items when the car was left with a parking attendant. If you are not judging the car then it makes no difference, but if you are, they will pick up on it at op's check.

Regards, John McGraw

One key, except I believe for the glove box. The car is in the warehouse or I would check for sure. I havn`t locked it in years. :D

huh... when I bought my 61, it had a different key for every lock. The one for the ignition had an "I" scratched into it, the trunk key had a "T" carved into it, the door key had a "D" engraved. Unbelievable. ...if these cars could talk!
