Anyone that has done or is doing a C1 RetroRod, do you have a parts list of all the items you needed to do the change over? do you have suppliers names and phone numbers etc? What about costs for purchases?

I am trying to put one together and it seems to me that someone might have a spreadsheet with all this stuff already on it....anyone help out

If you are willing to share, email me at htmiata99@aol.com

thanks, Herb

Herb,

I have been day dreaming/planning my car for a long time,I have spread sheets, list, photos, drawings, articles from magazines, printed post from this site,Pretty much I have 2 3 ring binders about 3" thick each one full of information,

I never divulge the cost of building a car,(I never know who listening) any ways Bob had said it best with stating that he could have purchased a new Z06 for what it cost to build his car,Figure a C1 resto Rod will be in the same ball park give or take a couple of thousand, I have to travel again in Aprill (always seems to be a lot of down times in the airports and in hotel rooms late at night)so I will try and up date my web site with some more meat and potatoes information for future resto rod builders.I got alot of information from John McGraw off of this web site so check his posts since about june of 04.(when I ordered my frame from SR111.

Good Luck.

I have to say I have built alot of cars,Actually I should say I have restored allot of cars. This one has been the absolute funest (I can see why John McGraw has allready started on a 65 with out even finishing his 59) but is has also tested myskills the most.Again I have been working on cars forever. My home garage is set up as well as most auto repair shops,

Now dont get me wrong, but my car is not going to be an exsteme build,as John M or Rich L or as John Z's Gransport,But You could practicly put a stock C1 body on one of these frames and you would only have to modify the steering column, and the rear spare tire tub,and a small repair to the glass in the trunck to allow room for the rear frame kick up.

I am adding power brakes,
aftermarket heat and a.c,
aftermarket power windows and door locks,
aftermarket stereo,
electric fan kit,
electric fans cooled trans cooler,
different style shifter,e brake,
after market wireing harness.
Smoothed firewall,
Aftermarket gauges,hand built dash cluster,
after market seats.

You know I have at least 40 to 50 hours of labor alone in re working the bumper brackets and they are still not done. I really cant finish them untill I mount the body for the last time.

So not to scare you off but this project is definatley not for the faint of heart,Remember I am not complaining here I am actually having a blast.
