C2 mystery wires behind cluster

I have a wire I cannot find in any wiring diagrams, it is dark brown in color and comes out of the main harness right behind the tach, it has a plastic shroud over a push on connection that is very similar to the ground wire that attaches to the cluster just above the tach. I can find no tabs to install this wire and to the best of my knowledge was unattached when I disassembled the cluster.

Also there is a small instrument light mounted to a half-moon shaped piece of metal with one hole that I have no idea where it goes. It was not attached when I removed the cluster.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The brown wire you describe sounds to me like it is the lead to the radio capacitor which mounts just below the oil pressure gauge. Most capacitors have a way of getting lost so this may not be obvious.

Your half moon light receptacle sounds to me like it is the one that attaches to the back of the ignition switch. You should see a hole in the back of the switch that accepts the screw that holds this receptacle on. If you see no light attached to the ignition switch it's even more apparent that I am correct.

Vetz is correct - the brown wire connects to a radio capacitor (probably missing) adjacent to the ignition switch; tape it back out of the way - it's "hot" any time the ignition is "on".
