You all have been real helpful over the last week or so concerning 461 heads that I was about to buy. The price was right and the rebuild seemed to suit my needs. There was only one problem, the casting dates did not match my car so I declined on the purchase.

I've found another set and these haven't been "remanufactured" and according to the seller, are unmolested. Obviously, if I purchase them, I'll have to have some work done on them to match the spec's of my engine (327/350 hp). My question regards the casting date. I'm aware that NCRS judging doesn't examine the casting date of heads. Doesn't matter, I don't plan on competing the car. My objective is to restore the car as near as possible as it was when produced. My vette is a 65 with a assembly date of Nov 10, 64. The block casting date is H214 and the engine stamped assembly date is F0828HT. The casting date both heads in May 64. Would this be reasonable for my car?

Thanks for any advise you can offer,

Bill

Hi! Bill

I think the date will work fine. I believe that most people would like to see the date with in thirty days of the engine assembly date, but the NCRS will allow you a six month window. If my calculations were correct you are with in a three month + or- time range.

Good luck

Ray
