hey c4/c5,
this is more of a guess then a question.my friend and i were at the track last night and he shifted from 3rd to 2nd and hit the rev-limiter really hard,on the way home he said a really loud ticking from front left valve cover developed.im on my way over to his house to tear in and take a look.was hoping you had a quess of what to look for.can an ls1 lifter collapse?he said it does not feel down on power.ticking is loud enough to hear over the phone.do the heads have to come off if the cam lobe(s) are shot, and cam needs changing?his car is a 99 trans-am ws6.any guesses would help.thanks,Todd.

hey c4/c5,
save your brain power, pulled off the valve covers, and 4 of the intake valve pushrods were bent, will get a set on monday and change them all, everything else looks good, and all the lifters felt the same when trying to push on them, just not sure if the torque for the rocker studs is 22 ft lbs, hopefully the parts guy will tell us.thanks and have a good weekend,Todd.

HI there,
I would suggest that your valves are also bent, due to the fact that this will normally occur when you bend the pushrods on Gen 3 small blocks.
If you didnt bend the valves, he should consider himself VERY lucky.
Allthebest, c4c5:hb

thanks,
we talked about the possibillity,we will reassemble and say a prayer, thanks again,Todd.
