Hi everyone, I just joined this forum and look forward to spending time here learning about Corvettes.
I am looking at buying a 1994 Corvette coupe, auto, 350 LT1 from a friend. The car has just turned over a 100,000 miles and runs and drives like a new one except for a shifting problem.
When you put the car in drive and take off, it never changes gears automatically like it should. The car starts out like it is in third gear, if you start out manualy in 1st and start to go to 2nd, the trans never shifts, acts like it is in 3rd, like it is the only gear. If you continue to shift to drive, the car shifts from 2nd to third like it should, a good firm shift.
If you are in drive and floor it, it does not downshift to a lower gear, it just speeds up.
I have checked the fluid and it is fine.
I really dont't think it is a mechanical problem but suspect it is electronic, maybe a wire or something unpluged.
Any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated.
