My 1988 c4 interior lights and underhood lights do not automatically go off when they are open for a time, thereby, draining my battery. Normally, the lights should go off if the doors are open for awhile. What do I need. Could it be that I need a new courtesy lamp delay dimmer or what? Please help me fix this. Thank you.

Sorry, but that's the way they work. It would be nice if they worked your way, but they will only turn off when the battery goes dead!

There's an adapter that can be plugged into the wiring on the under-hood light wiring to add an on-off switch. I put one on my 86 and it works great.

The other is the interior light delay relay, haven't gotten to that one yet. Based on everything I've read, if you pull the relay and connect the 2 white wires together the interior lights will go on and off immediately when the doors are open. My thought is if you put a toggle switch between the 2 wires you can have a way to turn off the lights with the doors open.

Just some thoughts.
