I am new to the Corvette group - just purchased a C4 coupe and would like information on buying a leather wrap for the steering wheel or getting current wheel leather wrapped at a reasonable cost - not $300.

Any suggestions or leads?

Thanks,

Gary

Just an FYI: the $300 they charge for a re-wrapped steering wheel is not too bad. The job is top quality, from people that know what they are doing. The only other suggestion I have for you is to take your wheel to local shops... anyone that can work with leather has the potential of doing it, but don't expect the quality to be as high as Mid America or Ecklers.

I swapped mine out for a rewrapped one from a local corvette only trim shop for 250.Since then Ive found alot of people that will do it for the same price.:beer

I've got a Wheelskin on mine. I wrote a small review in the Portal area of the forum. Very happy with it, cost me $35, and it's two-tone black and saddle.

I did the Mid America exchange

I am very happy with it.

Hey Rich...
Ya got pics of the wheel? and where is the write up?

Thanks Rich !

Looks like I got another gift to add to the B-Day list....

Thank you all very much - have already contacted wheelskins - but wanted to cover spokes as well. Wheelskins will also sell me matching leather to do the spokes if I get that ambitious, otherwise will just get wheelskin and assemble to steering wheel.

All of you thanks again!

Are the parts for spokes precut and do they stitch into the wheelskins cover? Mine could stand to be recovered as well, but I didn't think to ask them if they were available.

How much for the other pieces?

If anyone has any interest, I took a new picture of the Wheelskin on the car. The colors are a bit washed out (flash at night) but you get the general idea.

Thanks Rich....looks like I got another job added to the list when it warms up a bit...

I just ordered a rebuilt wheel from Corvettte Central. I have bougth a few thing from them in the past and everything is good....paid $239 + core.
