Hi Everybody,
I've had my first Corvette, 1993, now about a month now and have just purchased a set of Magnaflow mufflers for it. I bought the car with no mufflers on it, straight pipes from the resonator back. It's just too loud for me so I started researching mufflers. I almost when with stock but finally decided on the Magnaflows with the dual chrome tips. I did like the factory look of the square ends better but thought the Magnaflows might be a little better in the end. Any feelings out there on my decission?
Thanks for any inputs!!!;)

Soooo much with mufflers has to do with personal preference of the tone of the sound and volume level, you could get a thousand different answers and none of them still be just right for you. Bottom line here, is if you're happy with how it looks and sounds, that's what really matters!:) I do agree though, straight pipes on anything on the street are simply too loud, not to mention illegal most places. I ended up putting flowmasters on mine, removing the resonator and keeping it a true dual exhaust and I love the way it sounds...but just like I started off, that may not be to someone elses taste, so what's great for me might be just as bad for someone else.:)

Do exhaust manufactures not have some sort of dB rating on mufflers? If not I would think they could give a dB comparison with a given setup. ;shrug

Well, thanks for the reply. Based on what you said and from some other posts I read, I think the Magnaflow's will be all right. I should be getting them soon so I will find out. Thanks again!:)

My '90 has a true dual setup with a Magnaflow system.Stock manifolds to 2 bullet cats, resonators and mufflers. It's LOUD when you give it much gas,it also has the dreaded mid range drone that will drive you nuts around town, unless you're into that :L.It's a bit to loud for my tastes,so I'm going to try to get an X pipe installed and see if that will reduce the drone and that Hee Haw cackle when you let off the gas..sounds like a pickup with glass packs on it,if not I may replace the mufflers with Flowmaster 50 series and see if that helps.

congrats on the new purchase, and like said before its all a matter or your taste, i havent changed mine yet cause i want to take a ride in someones with some flowmasters before i do a cat back.

To all,
I have installed the Magnaflow mufflers and am pretty pleased. They did not quiet the exhaust noise as much as I might have liked but melowed the tone down a bit to a more tolerable level. I still get a resonance at certain RPM's inside the car but maybe it's "normal", I don't know. I know I could have installed stock mufflers and maybe quieted down even more but I felt that a little more than stock breathing would be better for performance. Also, since I'm new to the Corvette world I don't really know what is "normal" for the car. Overall I am very pleased with the look and sound (kind of even growing on me).
On another subject, the car is really quick! I don't know but feel it might be "chipped" in that I noticed the ECM has been either modified or replaced because it has Python seals or stickers on it. Any thoughts or comments?

I have no mufflers and I like it that way, another one of those many various sounds preferences.

I can understand that, there wasn't a tremendous difference in sound. Both in my opinion are loud but I am getting accustom to the sound.

Maganaflow

I have magnaflow on a C4, and hate THEM! They are under engineered, (Mounting tabs have broken 3 times!) OVER priced and the warranty stinks! THey expect you to take a problem back to the installing dealer ...quite a task if you are military and move! I have spent $200 more on replacing the mufflers due to these tabs and Magnaflows responce is no our problem dude...

When I have your wounded
