How do those of you that change your own oil at home get the car up on ramps? My existing ones are too tall..............

I bought the long version of "Race Ramps" from Ecklers and they do just fine. Ain't cheap however but they don't move when you try to drive up them.

Believe the race ramps cost $200. I use the Rhino ramps, but I have to use 2x6 to get a jack under the C4, then jack the car up, place the Rhinos under the wheels. This is a lot of work, but it does save $200. Been thinking of a Kwiklift, but I don't enjoy going under the cars as much as I used to. But I also don't like paying $80 to dealer for an oil change and lube, so I still get under the car.

You can cut a couple of lengths of 2x10 or 2x12 to put under your existing ramps. Make the lower one about a foot to a foot and a half longer than the upper one.

That's the link I saw! That's what I'm going to make...I've already got some wheel chocks for the rear wheel

I bought plastic extenders that change the slope of my standard steel ramps. They are a nice compromise because I can use the same ramps for my 'Vette or my truck, and the steel ramps get the 'Vette higher than Rhino ramps. I think I got them from Griot's Garage.

I also just bought extention ramps for the steel ramps. However, I just use them with my rhino ramps. They dont "lock" in like they would with the steel..but I never had a problem.
I think race ramps also makes a set that once you're up you can remove the ramp half so you have just the wheel section left....lotsa room to work. Thats the set I want!

I purchased ramps at Advanced Auto Parts. Under $50.00, if I remember
correctly. Problem is, at the start, the "air fowl"/spoiler rubs against the
ramps, bending it back some. It doesn't appear damaging, I just don't like
that to happen. And what's up with everyone using the 2 x 6's and 10's?
How does that NOT interfere with the "air fowl". If I could get the high part of the ramps under the car, I would back the front wheels onto the ramps. PLEASE EXPLAIN. ;shrug

This is exactly what I did. A couple of three foot pieces of 2X10, cut a 45 degree on one end of both. Get two more pieces of 2X4 about two feet long. Then drywall screw the flat or blunt end of the 2X10"s to the middle of the 2X4's making a sign of the cross. On the other ends of the 2X10"s is where the 45 degree angle is and it's facing down giving you two three foot ramps with a beveled end facing the fornt tires that you can easily drive up on and it lifts the front end four inches, enough to get a sturdy floor jack under. Cheap, cost of wood and drywall screws is about ten dollars.
