I removed the factory Delco/BOSE cassette radio in my 1985 Corvette and installed a Delco/Bose radio with CD from a 1995 Z-28, part number is 16175961. I used a wiring harness adapter that I got from my car stereo shop so as to make the installation fool proof and retain the stock wiring. The original radio had front-rear only, the newer radio has the additional left-right feature. I discovered the rear left and right speakers are backwards, front is fine. I checked the color codes, wiring, connectors and pin assignments, it is installed correctly. Never noticed it before as like I said, original radio did not have left-right knob. Is this a design feature for the BOSE system in a Corvette or do I need to swap some wires around. I am an Aircraft Avionics Tech and I will say that I followed all the wiring diagrams correctly, re-checked it several times. I also referred to my Factory Corvette Service Manual and all the hookups match the drawings there. I have emailed BOSE with this same question, will see what they have to say about it.

In my 89 vert the Bose rear speakers are both in the middle next to each other. I don't think the rear seperates left and right as it wouldn't matter anyway. Whenever I play tunes with a distinctive left/right sound I can't tell the difference in the rear if I select rear fader only.
The Kicker sub woofer I added uses a bridge to couple left and right because of this.

YOu may want to give Sound Repair in Fl. a call. They are experts in repairing Bose systems. Phone is 888-615-9700. I have no intrest in them but they did a fine job on repairing my 91 Bose system. They upgrade the system using modern parts.
They may be able to tell you what to do on your system.

I'd just switch the rear right and left wires. Whatever works... and not be persnickity about diagrams being "correct"!:w

Easy fix for this. Just switch the left rear with the right rear speaker! :L

What model Kicker sub did you use and how did you install it?

I contacted Sound Repair in Florida as recommended by Tom. They confirmed that it was not supposed to be reversed in the rear.Turns out that the radio had been previously worked on in Texas to install a newer CD device in order for it to play home made CD's. The rear left and right channels had accidentally been reversed inside the unit. I swapped the wiring in the adapter harness and it works properly now! :beer
