Can anyone out tell me if the removable hard top is available for a 92 conv. My friend has one and due to the amount of rain we get in this area during the winter she was wondering if the hard top was available for her C4. I know the C1,2 and 3s had them bit I'm not sure about the C4s.

If so, then from where and how much?

Thanks for any help.

Gary

yes a hard top is available, new they run about $1200 but you can find them on ebay. here is a pic of what it looks off of the car.

New, as an option, was closer to $2000.

Tracy Performance has them available as used equipment:
C4 convertible hardtops were offered (beginning) in 1989 and can be fitted on convertibles from 1986 through 1996 Corvettes. They all have glass rear windows. The 1986 through 1988 Corvettes may require a hardtop mounting retrofit kit to adapt then to accept hardtops.
I have no idea of what their price would be. :v

I was fortunate enough to get a used top for $800 and I paid $25 to have it painted to match the car. They are out there but it might take some searching like eBay or maybe here:

There are a number of components to the RPO CC2 hardtop option:
2 attaching brackets with 10 bolts. Of the 10, 2 should have smaller washers than the other 8 bolts. These brackets have to be installed on the car when using the top. The owner's manual says to not drive the car with the hardtop attached with only the windshield and decklid bolts.
A ratchet with a tork T-40 head was included along with a small ratcheting 8mm (or 5/16") wrench and a small pouch. The ratchet is the same one that comes with a coupe and the ratcheting wrench is available at Sears or MAC Tools or Snap-On.
A decklid protector that fits over the painted ragtop lid.

The hardtop also has a defogger grid in the window. The verts that had the CC2 option from the factory are wired for using the grid simply by plugging the wires into the pigtails in the car. Verts that didn't have CC2 will have the hot lead in place but no ground wire lead. The hot lead is in a loom on the passenger side next to the shoulder belt mount and the forward hinge of the convertible top. It's orange and about 6-8" long. A ground lead will have to be made and attached to a metal part like the shoulder belt mounting tower behind the driver's seat.

IF you have the C68 Climate Control system, the rear defogger will work off the heated mirror button, but you have to have the controller modified to operate the window defogger system. From what I have heard the C68 controller was slightly different if CC2 was an option. The standard C60 system should operate the hardtop window defogger. Check your owner's manual to see which button is used.
The top weighs about 65 lbs. and can be installed by one person if they have a hoist, otherwise it really is a 2 person job. Once installed, the vert becomes pretty stiff and it feels like an entirely different car. My 92 vert with the hardtop on is stiffer than my 87 coupe. All of the typical vert squeaks and rattles disappear and the resonance from my B&B TriFlo exhaust goes away once the hardtop is on!!

The only downside to the hardtop is that storage space behind the seats is reduced because the soft top is folded down and the rear decklid cannot be raised so only things that fit thru the opening can be stored. One caution is to not hit the decklid release button with the hardtop on. The decklid will rattle and the only way to re-latch it is to remove the hardtop, latch the lid and re-install the top!
