I have a 1984 C4 that I am looking to completely reupholster. I am talking carpet, seats the works. I am trying to see what kind of cash this would take to accomplish. The Corvette is in storage due to the winter season, so I am unable to get an estimate at the time. I am 20 years old and in college so I need to start saving my money now. If anyone can give me a broad estimate it would be greatly appreciated.

What about power seat hardware?

Power Seat Hardware works great

The power Seat Hardware is fine hell throw in seat foam so I can get a top end estimate.

You might want to try Wilcox Corvette parts for a complete interior kit...They sell at a discount....

Mike

I did the same and spent the following:

New black leather seats - $ 600.00
New Mass backed carpet set complete - $ 340.00
New door panels - $425.00 (set)
Door panel arm rests - $100.00

Overall, I think the interior kit is a good suggestion. I purchased these items over a 6 month period, so the cost was spread out.

Good luck,
Dino

The Corvette carpet is made by ACC, Auto Custom Carpet.

Most Corvette catalogs sell this brand, so shop around for the best price.

I'm going to do my carpet, I'm looking at Willcox on Ebay, or 'The Last Detail', they sell ACC carpet at pretty good prices.

Thanks for the Help

I dont pretend to have any idea how to upholster so since I will be unable to do it on my own what do you suppose the cost of labor would be at a reputable shop for this type of job? Once again thanks so much for the suggestions they have been extremely helpful so far.

You can get a set of seats mailed to you completely done for $985.00

item # 629674

You can also get the carpet there and put it in yourself...its easier then you think.

Above is for leather...leather "like" is cheaper...remember you have a 21 year old car

complete C4 interior?

More than a penny and less than the national debt :L

You're in for a shock if it needs it all...especially if any of the dash plastics are broken...

just FYI, one of my customers had his interior redone (custom, though), and it set him back over $8000. You're looking at better than half that figure for a professional to do it, and any reputable interior shop will not use any parts you supply at all.

Wayne Thank You So Much Next Winter I may try this myself I can't wait to get underway! For now I will continue to drive my 84 which by the way runs beautifully. Then after the summer ends the real fun will begin thank you all so much!

I did the seats myself ( a slight struggle, but just muscle) and recommend new foam plus the covers. I did the Eckler's (was $900) thing, with their 10% discount for a 'restorer'. Seems better pricing is available, now.

I had never done any upholstery before, but this is not sewing. I did order the special tool to ease the install.

I have dye-sprayed carpet and mats, when they were just faded; not worn. I routinely dye small bends in the black leather in the BMW seats; after cleaning, then treating it. There are no tears, so why replace? It pays to learn how to care for leather and to use the right chemicals!

I just had my seats done at a local upolstery shop for $140 a seat. This included rebuilding seat foam as needed. I picked the material for the insert.

I agree ... check a few local shops...

Seat upholstery

The interior in my car is ok but is worn. It came with cloth seats though. Nobody seems to have kits for cloth seats. Must be that GM didn't have that many orders for cloth so it's not a saleable item on todays restoration market. I was going to take the seats out, order the new foam kit and have the local upholstery shop recover them with my choice of material.

Anyone seen cloth seat kit?

When I redid my 86 a couple of years ago, they had the best prices, and it all looks original. Buy new foam for the seats when you do this, otherwise the leather won't fit right.

AND expect to sit about 2" higher in your seat!

BTW, if your seat pad is worn out, you can just unclip them and swap with the passenger side.

You might also beable to swap the entire seat. I did it in my 86 (no lumbar).

That is a great idea. The drivers seat in mine, and I'll bet in most, is the one with the wear. With the controls on the console, this might work. I will check it out!
