I have an 85 C4 and want to replace the Rack&Pinon. Where can I find out if it is a heavy duty or standard R&P System. It has the factory system still on it.

I suspect the 85 will be like my 84. mine has z51(I think that would be the HD) it takes 2 to 2 1/4 turns to turn the wheel lock to lock. If its z52(regular I would presume) it should take 2 3/4 turns. You can find them at www.mamotorworks.com which is the new address for mid america designs(they changed their name). Hope this helps.

How easy should a 96 LT1 steer? I know it sounds strange but I have no other comparison other then my 2002 Dodge RAM. I can turn the steering wheel with a finger or two while the Corvette requires a firm grip. Is that normal based upon this type of car? My Z28s were not as easy to steer as the RAM but not nearly as hard as this car. Power steering fluid appears fine and I have no flat spots in my steering.

It shouldn't require a firm grip to turn. Sorry I can't help you on a fix, though.

One of the first things I noticed about my 96 was the steering and how much less power assist there was than my retired XJS.
