Hey Fawnz, just wanted to offer two cents. If you are looking for a 1985 era car for $10,000, you should be very picky. In my opinion, that's a lot of money for that era car, so you can afford to be incredibly picky, and the car should be mint!
I'd suggest you consider the 1989 and later manual cars, as they have the 6-speed, not the 4+3. I had a 4+3, and it's nice and mine was flawless, but they can develop problems with the overdrive that are fairly expensive to fix. Plus, by 1986 the car had ABS, and by 1987 it had aluminum heads and a roller cam. It just got better and better from there. 1988 had 17" wheels, 1989 had the 6-speed, 1990 the new dash, 1991 the new exterior, 1992 the LT-1...
FWIW, I sold my 1987 flame red Z51 4+3 with 87,000 miles on it for $5,700, and that was a couple of years ago. It was in good condition and was a real looker. I think you can get a lot more car for that money than a 1985.
