I am not picky, but I am looking for a '85+ C4 for around $10k in good condition. About the only must is it being a manual. I guess that does make me kinda picky. Let me know if you have anything i might be interested in.

Thanks

Hey Fawnz, just wanted to offer two cents. If you are looking for a 1985 era car for $10,000, you should be very picky. In my opinion, that's a lot of money for that era car, so you can afford to be incredibly picky, and the car should be mint!

I'd suggest you consider the 1989 and later manual cars, as they have the 6-speed, not the 4+3. I had a 4+3, and it's nice and mine was flawless, but they can develop problems with the overdrive that are fairly expensive to fix. Plus, by 1986 the car had ABS, and by 1987 it had aluminum heads and a roller cam. It just got better and better from there. 1988 had 17" wheels, 1989 had the 6-speed, 1990 the new dash, 1991 the new exterior, 1992 the LT-1...

FWIW, I sold my 1987 flame red Z51 4+3 with 87,000 miles on it for $5,700, and that was a couple of years ago. It was in good condition and was a real looker. I think you can get a lot more car for that money than a 1985. :) :w

Thanks for the input, I guess your right, but I was thinkin that if I got an earlier year then, I could have a little extra green left over to do some of the basic modifications. But after what you said, i guess what I want is:
*ABS
*Manual (6-speed would be nice but not a must)
*I acually kinda like the Older digital guages, but they are guages and not a real deciding factor.
*Preferably white, but again it is a color, and not a necessity.
*Sports seats
*Must be in good condition, both interior and out, a strong engine and good suspension. (there is nothing more frusterating, than when the car isn't up to par due to inadequate suspension)
*Sport suspension package would be nice
*Good sound system

***I realize that i will probably not be able to find one with all of these features, so if you have a car with the important ones, then please let me know.

Thank You

You could certainly get a 1985ish car, there's nothing wrong with them. And you could save some green. All I meant was an '85 should be a fair bit under $10k, or should be in like brand-new condition with like 12 miles on it.

From your updated list, sounds like you want a 1989. First year of the 6-speed, last year of the digital dash (which I think is neat too). I went to edmunds.com and ran the price of a 1990 (earliest it goes back). White with 80k miles, 6-speed, power leather seats came up as under $7,000 for private-party, under $9,000 for dealer retail. I personally think Edmunds has great pricing guides that are very accurate.

There are a lot of Corvettes out there, so just keep an eye out. Check places like autotrader.com, cars.com, and the various 'vette-specific places that get mentioned here. I'm sure you'll find a car you love for that price. :w

I'm still looking for one, so let me know if you hear about something.

I have a nice triple black vert with short throw zf 6 speed in good shape..k&n open box, lt1 exhaust, updated interior seats and door panels. Has digital and analog gauges, newer top with glass rear window, bose cd (orig system) ZR1 chrome wheels or the original saw blades if you would rather have them.

If you're still looking I've got a metallic silver 1987 Z52 Coupe - it's in excellent condition with 83,000 miles. The first owner was Goodyear who bought it to test tires, the 2nd owner was an engineer who took excellent care of it - I'm the third owner and am selling to buy a 63 split window. I would keep it, but also have a Harley so I'm running out of garage space.
This car has everything on it - is all original and everything works - it has a 4+3 manual transmission that works perfectly. I often go to Road America with my car to watch races and get numerous comments on it from other Vette owners. Let me know if you want more info.
