I would like to strenght the braking performance of my c5 coupé changing the front and rear rotors+ front and rear pads(HPS Hawk), but I'm still having doubts about the best solution:
Slotted rotor
Drilled rotor
Drilled and slotted rotors
I mainly use my vette for fun,not dayly street use , and time to time autodrome racing(I'm leaving close to the Monza autodrome!! where Ferrari are much more popular...)
Do You have any reccomandation and/or suggestions.
thanks and regards

Welcome to the CAC ChevyC5! I am also located in Italy near Aviano Air Base.

I don't know the answers to your questions, but I am sure someone else may have some helpful advice.

Thanks for Your email.
I dont know if you are aware we have a very active and interesting Corvette Club in Italy: You can subscribe (it's for free!!) or visit our Internet web site:www.corvetteitalia.it.
This year we have had 2 meetings, the last of which in Arona with more than 65 Vettes from all around Italy.
I hope to meet You at the next

Do not drill stock rotors nor use replacement rotors that have been drilled.

Use slotted or grooved rotors.

Also, if your road racing at Monza (sigh--I can only wish!) I'd upgrade the brake fluid (Motul DOT5.1 or Motul 600 work well), use a more aggressive brake pad (the 02-04 Z06 ft. pad is a good one) and add some braided stainless-steel covered brake hoses.

Also, if your running Monza, you need to switch to a better quality 10W30 synthetic engine oil, synthetic ATF in the trans or, even better, Red Line MTL.

I am curious... What oil would you recommend? Are Red Line products superior?

drilled holes crack
slots do nothing but act as a cheese grater.

Solid aftermarket floating rotors are best

chevyc5,

Welcome.

My car is used strickly for pleasure on fair weather weekends.

I've had Baer Eradispseed drilled and slotted rotors on my C5 for about two years now. I love the looks. I have read about people that have used them at the track, but have no personal experience with that.

You may be able to see them in my signature.

Best of luck,
Pedro

If this is for all-out racing at Monza, it depends on oil temperature and how much money you want to spend on oil. If you're going to use Mobil 1 and oil temperature is 120 deg. C or less, I'd use Mobil 1 10W30. If you run the car hard enough such that you regularly see oil temps over 120 deg. C. I'd use Mobil 1 20W50 and change it more often.

Are Red Line products superior?
Yes.

If you use Red Line engine oil, with 120 deg. C or less, I'd use 10W30. If you see sustained oil temps more than 120 deg. C, I'd use 10W40.

Can you explain what a solid aftermarket floating rotor is? Also, where does one find such a thing?
