How much money are you finding that you're spending on your C5, just to keep it going? This is not including any modifications...

Are you talking gas, insurance and taxes etc ?

I get one oil change, about $50, $? fuel treatment. Who knows how much in gas but sure is going to change this year. I don't know exactly how much I pay for insurance but I think it's about $700 a year. I'm sure all in all it's really no more than I would spend on any other car I own (not counting the small amout of mods that I try to do each year).

Boy, I never really added it all up, I'm having too much fun with the car to bother with that I guess.

$40.00 on a oil change and approx $800.00 insurance. Gas depends on how you drive it, I don't get very good mileage.:D

$100 CDN for an oil change once a year. My 01 with 27000 miles on it is due for about a $700 checkup for replaceing fluids (Rear end, tranny (6 sp), Rad, brakes.

insurance

We my(wife and me) $635.00 every 6 months for a '04 Avalon and a'04 Corvette. Te Vette cost us $30.00 more. We've got real good insurance and some discounts for long term and house coverage also. State Farm for US has
been good, of course we haven't had any accident or tickets since 1983. I did get one at 80 in a 55 at4 in the morning in my WRX but paid a lawyer $360 to get it reduced to 64. No points No nothing.

In N.C by law they can raise your premium, add a penalty of about $850(for me) for three years and take your license for 30 days. Some roads post 70 and 75 so you can fudge a little on speed but if you get clocked a 80 unless you get a break(not likely) you lose your license too.

It's like the new income tax form:

1. Write down how much ya got.
2. Send it in.

:-)

The '04 is still under warranty, but I did 2 oil changes at the dealer for a total of $160 between last April and this April. Gas mileage has been pretty good; combined highway/city the DIC is showing 21+, and I've not reset the counter since last summer.

I'm a bit concerned about costs as the car ages - I saw a wheel bearing at $750 or some such on one of the other forums. Geez. Must be for a C47.

The car bends the budget a bit - but I'm to the age where if I don't ride in it now I won't be able to ride in it later <g>.

If I can figure out how to get the thing up on ramps I'd like to do the oil changes on the car myself - but that's not what you asked <g>.

Insurance? Yeah, I've got that <g>.

I figure it cost around 23 cents per mile to insure and maintain (@ 8,000 mile per year). That does not include gas.

My Corvette has been reliable. In a year and a half, I spent a couple of hundred dollars on oil changes and replaced spark plug wires that caused an internittent limp. Other than that, all my expenditures have involved modifications - that is a different animal. LOTS of money spent on mods.

Insurance has bee cheap as well. No higher than my other cars. Pleasant surprise.

One of the appeals of the 'vette is that it is American iron and relatively high volume. Most parts have a small price premium compared to an import. As an example, the spark plug wire kit (NAPA) is high quality aftermarket and guaranteed for life. I placed the receipt in the owner's manual and if I ever have another problem - free replacement. You don't have to be terribly handy to solve problems like spark plug wires. My laptop and autotap lead me to the wires - swapped wires to the other bank and the problem moved there. Most of the repair time was travel to NAPA and waiting for a cool engine. I love this car. There is no way that I could work on a Boxster.
