Anyone tried the Yokohama AVS Sport Runflats as the replacement for the factory installed Goodyear F1 GS EMT's?

I put a set on my wife's 98 and they were great in the rain, quiet, and had grip.
They are a little softer than the Michelin ZP's that I have on my 00. I like the Michelin tires too.

Remo,

Are you still running your original tires?

6 Shooter,

I only have 15,000 miles on the orignals and they look pretty good. But I know I'll have to replace them at some point so I thought I'd get some feedback from the folks on these Yoko's. Sorry I couldn't make it to the BG Cruisefest. I would have liked to get a ride in that new Z06.

yok's

i have yokohama's on now.good,quiet tire.Not the best in the rain,but i don't drive in the rain w/the vette unless i'm caught out there.I got mine for 1300 bucks installed.Way better,ride/noise wise,than the stock rf's.

6Shooter,
It's probably for the best that Remo couldn't make it to Cruisefest and experience the new C6 Z06 in person. If he had, it would have cemented for him that he would have to go get one. And when he did get one, he'd feel his winter Corvette separation even more acutely than he already does.

And you know what that would mean: we'd have to take up a collection to see to Remo's mental health, and there'd be countless "Remo, step away from the ledge" threads started between Thanksgiving and Easter.

Yes, I think CAC may be better off that Remo isn't now jonesin' for a C6 Z06.

(Only yankin' your chain, Remo. ;) )

I'm looking hard for the right tire also.Tire rack has some reviews that might be helpfull.I've been able to get 32,000 out of my originals but they are really getting on the edge and i won't get 35,000 safely. I like the firestone reviews .

Well the silver bullet needed sneekers. After carefull reviewing my options and test reports i bought michelinpilot run flats.I'm not putting them on for another couple thousand miles. total cost will be just under $1200.I'll be ready to head for Florida Nov. 11th

I remind Remo EVERY time I see him about the ride in the ZO6 at Cruisefest (and it was silver too) ;).

Be careful, Guy. Remo's seasonal affective disorder could manifest itself by Thanksgiving, and you could find your tires anonymously slashed.

Do you think it's time we upped Remo's meds? I mean, we're already half way through July. Summer ends up there by the second week of August.

I'm just thinking of public safety, you know. :D

I have them on my car (the non runflat versions).
Honestly, I find them to get noisy on diff. highway surfaces.. but for around town, they are quiet and give a great ride.

I use to be like Remo ,winter depressed me greatly.I found my answer in storage in Orlando.Safe ,clean and next to the airport. I offered Remo the same-but no he likes meds.I'll do a post next Sept. for all those who might not want winter blues.

Hey you guys,

I took your advise and went back on the winter meds. What a great summer I'm having now.

I feel better knowing that - in the interest of public safety ;).

I know ya'll will probably smack me for this but I have a set of Yoko AVS ES100s on my '03 Mustang GT :gap and Im pretty pleased with them. Theyre not lasting terribly long but they have been very good in terms of traction (both dry AND WET!). I think that overall theyre a pretty good tire for the money.

Does anyone know the specs as to how far you can go in run-flat mode with the Yokohama AVS Sport Runflats and if they are repairable?

Hi Tom,
I had them on my '01 for awhile.
I liked them a lot. Their runflat capability was 50 miles.
As far as I know the only tires that claimed a 200 mile range at zero pressure were the original Goodyears.

Good luck,

Pedro

Maybe we could petition Jesse James in Monster Garage to make a special winter Vette for the guys up North. Something with a higher road clearance and four wheel drive. Hmmm - might even be easier to get in and out of. Just think of it, you could be spitting out a rooster tail of snow like a swamp buggy racer.
