2001 Quicksilver Lingenfelter Convertible
Hey Z06 gang,

Back in 2001 when I was getting ready to purchase a new vette I was faced with difficult choice. Get a Z06 or get a convertible. The price points were exactly the same. I chose the convertible because I knew the top down driving was really the heart of the sports car experience. However, it always bugged me that GM couldn't resovle the issue. After all they built many 400+ HP convertibles over the years.

On March 20th I'm dropping my car off at Lingenfelter Performance Engineering in Decatur, IN. Three weeks later I'll pick it up with 430 HP. It's taken a little time, but at last I'll have the best of both worlds.

WHOA!!!!!!!!!!!

Remo, I'm shocked, literally. Why you old HP dog you. I knew from the first time we met you were a die hard Corvette fan, but 430 HP? I'm impressed, I can't wait to see you:lou at the Holiday Inn since we can't:lou at The Baymont. What all are you getting done if I may ask?

Lou,
  • Port & polish cyclinder heads and throttle body
  • Port match intake manifold
  • Comp Cam valve springs
  • 2.02" / 1.57" stainless steel intake/exhaust valves
  • Three angle valve job - set correct spring tensions & heigths
  • Lingenfelter designed roller camshaft
  • Modified oil pump assembly
  • 160 degree thermostat
  • PCM tuning & dyno testing.
Also having them lower the car 1.5 inches all arround. Should be a fun summer. See you at the Baymont.

Sweet

Sounds like a nice set up. Hope the weather is in your favor when you drop it off and pick it up unless you made arrangements to have it trailered.

Sounds great, Remo.
I have two questions:
1. Will Lingenfelter be able to do that work in your garage?
2. Will you have the car painted yellow while you are at it?

Jim,

It will kill me to take it out of the garage and actuslly drive to Decatur. I'll leave it's favorite "blanky" with Lingenfelter so it won't get homesick. As far as the Millenium Yellow paint goes - have I given you my theory on why they charge more for that color?

Yes, I just read your theory today. Very interesting concept.

I just thought that if you changed to yellow, you could be on the winning side of your own poll. :D

You know the same poll exists on another popular Corvette website and the results are very different. Call me "paranoid", but I've always had my suspicions about the CAC poll. I have to go now - there's people after me.:crazy

Hey, I'm only about an hour from Decatur. I'll make sure to go over and take it on it's virgin drive after all that work is done. Did you also purchase new rear tires and a new clutch for my test drive? :L:L:L

Edmond,

That's very nice of you - what a generous offer. You'll have to work it out with 6-Shooter as he made the same offer several months ago. Gosh you guys sure are caring.:L

Edmond - Don't you live in the Chicago Area? ;shrug

Remo - I'm only 15 - 20 minutes, I'll take care of the test drive for ya! Just leave me a set of keys when ur over here in a few weeks. :upthumbs

Later - D

I get to test drive it, since I'm Remo's co-pilot both ways.
Only 8 more working days to our road trip. :cool

Guy and Remo,
I think you need to bring along a laptop for daily update purposes on your trip. You can treat this thread as a sort of blog of your trip across America. And if you meet up with Dwayne, hey, that'll make for some good reading. People really enjoy those road stories with the too-bizarre-to-be-completely-believeable-locals. And Dwayne might qualify as a "too bizarre local."

That's a good idea! I am "all ears".

An update on the old Western:

Have Laptop - Will Travel. ;)

On The Raod Updates

Listen - I know what you guys are praying for. Getting a picture of my car sitting outside a motel in Cleveland with 22" of snow on it.

I know that would be all over the CAC in a flash. "Remo's car got snowed on, nah- nah- nah- nah- nah."

Returned From Decatur

Update - Due to some outstanding PCM tuning the Lingenfelter Geek Squad was able to squeeze out 450 HP with 390 @ the rear wheels. I love the traction control messages that come across the DIC between gear changes.
