Just purchased a new C6 and I noticed at night the headlights have a foggy or smokey ring when shining through the clear lens. The dealer has ordered new lenses and I am just wondering if anyone else has had this problem? It looks to me as if they have to take the entire wheel-well apart to repair this? Is this true? I will be staying with the car as the dealership has already not passed my test for me leaving it with them.
Thanks guys, I am having an anxiety attack about surgery being done on my new car so soon.

The good news is the headlights have been replaced. I thought just the covers, but to my surprise it is the ENTIRE assembly. The lenses are sealed to the entire section and each one is $970 and that does not cover the install. They advised me to try and get the 3M covers for the lenses or be prepared to pay my insurance deductible if one gets cracked from a rock. It is quite a process to replace them also. The dealer had a crack mechanic and the shop foreman working on it and it took 3 hours to do both. Just thought I'd let you know how it went.

Thanks for the info. I'm glad for you it was under warranty. I would be pretty ticked off if I had to have them done and pay for it. Those are mighty expensive head lights. Dont drive too close to stone trucks :)

:w

I have the foggy headlights as well. The dealer said, that they all fog.

After replacement of your headlight assembly.. do the new lights fog?

Let me know.
Thanks.

Mine dont fog. The dealer is full of ***. You paid a lot of money for that car and you tell them you want them replaced, period. :mad

You really need to get them done. Why they get foggy is two fold according to the mechanic that replaced ours.
1. The seal between the lens is damaged and has let water in.
2. The paint was not cured when the units were put together and the gasses from the paint have collected on the inside.

Either way get them done. They do not want to do it because it is a pain in the A**, and they may not have a mechanic that can do the job correctly. If they are not a "Corvette" dealership and sell only a few a year then they may not know what they are doing. I called GM and verified that they were qualified to do this repair before we went back. It is up to you, but with the $ you spent on the car make them fix it now before it becomes a larger problem later.
