C6 Order is In!!

I placed my order today! Setup is:

C6 Coupe
DSOM
Cashmere Int
3LT
6MN
Navigation

The dealer here on LI gave me a great discount off MSRP. Couldn't get the Z51 (I didnt want to wait, I want it before my birthday in March). I took a 40 min test drive in an F55, then a 30 min in a base. My son and I both agreed, though the F55 may be technically awesome, I personally couldn't really tell much of a difference between it and the base, and I certainly didnt feel much at all between Tour and Sport. Maybe I'm too new to a Corvette (this is my first, coming from a 03 Mach 1) to really tell. The roads here in the Island arent much of a proving ground though, more of a torture test...

Anyway, my thoughts were since the F55 didnt seem to be worth the $1700 to me, I would opt for the base, add Z51 sways, shocks and brakes if I feel I need a little more sport. Ill just put that $1700 in a slush fund for now, and maybe turn to you for some experienced tips if I need them. I will want new rims for sure, since I took the painted for now. The Chromes were too plain.

So I ordered this AM, the order was entered and I have an Order/Tracking number already. Its going to be a Happy New Year for sure!

Thanks for listening and for all the good information posted here, it helped me make some smart desicions during the selection, bargaining, and ordering process. Id love to hear any customizing ideas, tips, suggestions, etc.

For 2006, the F55 is supposed to have a 'larger' difference between the Tour and Sport modes - similar to the way they did with the first F55 back in 2003. The 2005 version of F55 is too close to each other and many people have a hard time telling the difference.

I ordered F55 on my '06 but haven't driven it yet (still in BG). I have F55 on my '03 and love it, so that's the way I went with my '06 order.

I know it was supposed to have a bigger difference, but I spent a long time over many kinds of roads, and neither me or my son could tell much between the two, and not enough between it and the base for its cost. On paper it does look impressive, I will say that. It just didnt wow me over bumps, potholes, turns etc.

Since we all are looking for something slightly different, I guess it comes to what makes us happy. Im sure ANY Corvette C6 is going to be a blast. On paper it does look impressive, I will say that.

Call Carole Thomas at Smithtown Chevrolet. She's a Corvette Speacialist, been selling Corvettes on the Island for a long time. They are under new management, have hired Vette specialty mechanics from the other top Vette dealers here, and are really pushing to be a top Corvette dealer. She will cut you a great deal, I've known her for years. She beat every other dealer I spoke to (she beat Ramp by over $1000), and treats you like family to boot. Just tell her "Al Pacino" told you to call...That'll break the ice quickly!

Looking for an 06 Vert.

No it's not asupporting member but is a local dealer. The closest supporting dealer is about 4 Hrs. away. I did e-Mail 3 supporting dealers and only one replied back then when I requested More Info I got no reply. Maybe Monday they will get back to me. I don't plan on signing any papers unless they offer me a really good deal
