I have a set of polished C6 wheels from 2006 that I'd like to sell. I've been asked by C4 owners if they will fit and work on the C4. I assume that the bolt pattern is the same and that they would bolt on - haven't tried it and I haven't measured them either.

Assuming that the C6 wheels mount to the hubs, what size tires should I tell the C4 owner to buy? That is the question.

I got to looking a the standard C4 tire sizes and noted that the 255/45/17 and 285/40/17 are 26.0 to 26.1 inch diameter. I also noted that the ZO7/Z51/Grand Sport sizes (275/40/17 and 315/35/17) are basically 25.7 inch diameter. I.e.: same basic diameter tires front and rear and I assume this required for the ABS programming.

The base C6 wheels are 18x8.5 and 19x10 and the base C6 tires are 25.7 and 26.9 inch diameter. So, the standard C6 tires should not be the recommended tires to use when mounting C6 wheels on a C4. I looked around TireRack.com and found that there are tire sizes with 26.0 diameters for both the 18 and 19 inch wheels. They are:

255/40/18 and 295/30/19 - both show 26.0 diameter.

It any of you C4 owners have bought C6 wheels (real C6 wheels and not C6 lookalikes in C4 size) and mounted them on your C4, what tires did you put on them?

Does my pick of 255/40/18 and 295/30/19 tires work?

I guess the C7 stuff has everyone's thoughts somewhere else.

Anyone have a comment or thought on this?
