I have (or will as soon as the dealer gets the go-ahead) a new MS Vert with 6S on order for NCM delivery. I also have several leads as to where to obtain a CAGS eliminator assembly. My question: If I show up at BG with a CAGS eliminator in hand, does anybody have any suggestions as to where I could find a local (BG) service provider who would/could install the CAGS eliminator . . . before I leave town for points West? The same question applies for the hard wire installation of an Escort 8500.
Would appreciate any input.
Thanks,

ask the Museum which dealer does the "delivery PDI" and see if you can contact them to have the CAGS eliminator installed

Do The Corvette Install Yourself

The part is as simple to install as it can possibly be. While the exhaust pipes are not too hot, just pull the left (drivers) side up on a curb, crawl under the car and unplug the connector from the transmission. The connector is clearly marked with a tag reading "SKIP SHIFT". Plug the connector into your eliminator and the other end of the eliminator back into the trans plug.

The whole operation takes less than 5 minutes.

After reading several posts, I think I now have an understanding of the CAGS eliminator, but would apprecaite a short description. Also what is the cost Thanks Jack

I wouldn't neccessarily worry about installing it before you drive home. I just trateded in my '01 Camaro SS on a new '04 Z06. The CAGS is fairly unobtrusive on the Corvette, given its higher torque and lighter weight comparred to the Camaro, I've only had it kick in twice since I picked up the Vette two days ago. I don't think you will notice it too much on the drive home.

I had installed an SLP CAGs eliminator on the Camaro, which I removed when I traded in the car for the Vette - does anybody know if the same CAGS eliminator that I had for my LS1 6-speed Camaro will work with my new LS6 6-speed Vette?

Thanks.

It just provides a resister so that the computer thinks that the CAGS is still hooked up and doesn't activate the check engine light. While you can buy a resister from Radio Shack and build your own, it is better to buy one that has the proper gasketed GM plugs to keep moisture and dirt from getting in to the plug. I bought the one I used in the Camaro from SLP ( http://www.slponline.com )and it also has a plug on the other end of it to go in to the transmission plug (the one that you unplug the CAGS wire from) to seal it also. It costs about $30. Now that I looked it up on their web site I see that I can use the same one for my Z06 that I just pulled off the Camaro. :-)

Most of the elimminators have the pair of wires between the two connectors. I like the two seperate connector model (bottom picture). You just seperate the two connectors (which are unfortunately shown coupled together) and plug one into the transmission and the other into the "skip shift" cable that you removed from thr transmission.

Your car comes from the assembly plant directly to the museum. There they have the lift and all the essentials where THEY prep your car for delivery. The care and effort that goes into this prep is better than anything I've ever seen at any dealership. Truly a 110% effort by all at the Corvette Museum.

On installing the CAGS, I'd do it myself and not put the museum on the hook for something like that. It's a simple (1 hammer) install!!!
