Callaway has a front bra for the Aero body in stock and I was wondering if any of you have one? How is it attached to the car?
Bear with me as I go back to the GM bra on my C5. It's attached with marine screw snaps. A body panel screw was replaced with a stainless steel screw that had a male snap as the head. The female side of the snap was on the bra itself (females, bras just probably go together <grin>). There were two snaps of this type in each wheel well and three more underneath the front facia. There were five felt covered tabs that were bent at 90 degrees and hooked to the top of the front facia underneath the hood.
Once you had the bra warmed up in the sun, you could streach it over the front and use the secondary "take-up" snaps in the wheel well that were attached to a felt covered metal tab that was bent and shoved in between the fender and the fender liner. Both the male and female portions of the snap were attached to the bra. Snapping these at the top took up the remaining slack and held the bra tightly in place. With the three snaps per wheel well and the three snaps under the facia, it didn't move around.
There is a secondary piece that slips over the front edge of the hood and two bungee type cords stretched from the corners of this piece underneath the hood to the hood blanket mounts.
The design also makes it difficult to remove from the car without opening the hood, so it could not be easily stolen without damaging the bra.
How does the one from Callaway work? Pictures anyone?
Thanks,
