Congrats Mark!!!! Can't wait to here the details.

Sounds like we are going to have to put some Megs on our creeper for next year!!!!

Pete, the great thing about the track time was, all throughout, the announcer kept saying "CALLAWAY CORVETTE" and folks were commenting on the power as Mark would slide the car into 2nd (and the car would kick )

All in all, a great day for racing and a great opportunity for showing the Callaway Power

Thanx, guys. Sure happy I didn't let anyone down. Chris (*89x2*), was a great "crew" member. Although I've run numerous road track events, this was my 1st time on the drag strip. Chris gave me a ton of info ( I didn't even know how to "read" the lights when I first got out there).

I just recently got the Snat back from Old Lyme, as it went up to the shop straight from Carlisle, for a "physical", some "massaging" and installation of the Megaphone exhaust. It has never run better.

The power the car was putting to the ground was awesome. I had trouble getting the tires to hook up all the way into third gear (my 60' times really sucked), and the rear was really:booty thru each shift, but as I would gather it up and finally get the tires grabbing, the CALLAWAY POWER made up for any of my inefficiencies. In fact on one of my runs against a supercharged Mercury Marauder, he had pulled a good lead on me but when I finally got my traction going, I snatched him up and went flying by and he came up to me after the race and asked if I was running nitrous.

It was a great time and a great experience.

Congratulations on your victorious debut at the drag strip! I'm sure that was their first time breathing in some fresh megaphone exhaust! GO CALLAWAYS!!!!!!

Johnny

My times were actually nothing to write home about. Not making any excuses, but being my 1st time running on a dragstrip, I was just trying to have a little fun and really never had any thoughts of taking home a class win.
I decided on a 13.2 dial in, and kept right at this number thru my runs at a best mph of 109.24. This was with poor reaction times and 60's of 2.3.
I never could get good traction with the tires I had on and with each shift I had to let off a little as the rear would really pull out. But when I would get planted, the awesome power of the Callaway engine would pull me ahead. I honestly think with some practice and the proper tires I could knock a second off my times.

Mark, are you going to see about getting some different tires and some more practice to see what it will do??

Maybe for next year, as this season is just about over. I do have an xtra set of wheels, so I can have one set for my road race tires and one for drag racing.

I think that you could cut a second off that at your elevation. I have a stock Z06 that ran mid 13's @ 108MPH at 2600' at my local track. I added a Vararam and some drag radials, and improved a bunch. I generally run about 12.6 @112. I have run 12.4 on three occasions, and have a few 113MPH traps. That would be more like 12.1 @ 117MPH at sea level. As you have observed, wheelspin is the problem. I get 60' times of 1.9 consistently, and a few 1.8's when I hook up really well. Some stickier tires would help you, but at the risk of breaking driveline components.
