I ran across some old photo's and one was of the car Rippie campaigned in one of the race series during the early 90's
Does anyone recall the series that it ran in??

Never seen it, but it sure is sweet!

I am not sure if it is the same Callaway but, Back in 1991, Rippie was setting up to campaign a 91 B2K in the "IMSA Bridgestone Supercars Series" Following the rules ;) a 91 403 hp engine was allowed different pistons, rods, crank & cats removed... Also, the frame was "worked" a bit and tube chassis components were installed in places.
Car ran on 275's and 315's in the back however, the limiting point on the car was the weight - this car had to compete weighing in at 3814 lbs - 500lbs heavier than a Corvette Challenge car :eek
With Fuel & driver, car brove the 4100 lb mark , IMSA would also not allow brake ducts :(

Sadly, the car was parked due to difficulties with the series (weight) rules - Another Neat chapter in Callaway History
:upthumbs

update

Chip Miller currently owns the car :cool

The car only ran in 3 events :( awesome machine - Said they might have to put steel belts in the outside sidewalls to supprt the extreme forces of the wieght - Many, many tire compounds were also tried - Neat history for sure :)
