Folks, I wanted to take a moment and give a quick update on the website and a few upcoming events…

First, the big news – the April Callaway Of The Month has been added to the www.callawayownersgroup.com website – drop by and check it out :cool

Speaking of the website, NUMEROUS changes were made over the past few days, with new links added and sections formed, based upon direct input by YOU, the OWNERS & ENTHUSIASTS :upthumbs Check them out and as always, feedback is gladly welcomed!

A few EVENTS are coming up – Of course with spring finally here, many of us are taking our Callaways out of winter hibernation…

I personally had my SNAT out today on a “Crab Cruise” with 77 other Vettes, racking up close to 200 miles of pure pleasure :cool

In my region, the crab cruise is what kicks it off for the “Corvette Season” and I am looking forward to yet another fun filled year of shows J

Speaking of shows, our HUGE EVENT, Callaways at the Corvettes @ Carlisle show is scheduled for the end of August.

This event has been getting better and better each year, with your participation, it will surely be an unforgettable one!

Information about the show, hotel, and general discussion can be found here: http://www.corvetteactioncenter.com/forums/showthread.php?t=63247

If August is too far away to wait for your “Callaway fix” How about a run down the great Shenandoah Mountains, on Skyline drive???

At the end of April, there is a charity run down Skyline Drive – For only $10.00 (plus park admission), you will have one of the most enjoyable days of driving in your life – Want to make this a COG event, contact me by e-mail if interested for more info – This is in the Winchester, VA portion of Skyline near Luray.
***************************************************

In the meantime, take a virtual drive through the Callaway Forum - With over 1,500 topics and 14,400+ posts by members, there is a ton of info - especially all the high hp talk lately :upthumbs

Enjoy your Callaway cars as spring comes into season!

Chris,

What a great pick for the Callaway of the Month... That car is really coming along.

Cheers to Callaway and Lance!!!

Any chance the brake calipers would fit the 17" OZ wheels? Very Nice!!!

After a very long week I finally forced myself to take out the B2K being that the temp dropped down to a very pleasant 68 degrees. Yes down here its been in the mid 70's already in the late afternoons and 80's during the days. Unfortunately, I'm bogged down on a work project which has kept me from enjoyng the great sping break weather down here.

Looking forward to a big gathering at Carlisle!

I have heard from a few Callaway Owners who will either be attending or trying to make this fun day of driving - Skyline is ABSOLUTELY Beautiful any time of the year and the twists and turns are pure driving heaven :upthumbs

This is a planned drive and there are maps and stops w/ a luncheon that was outstanding last Fall - it keeps getting better each year! :cool

I know one Callaway owner is flying in for this event all the way from Florida :eek

Interested????

Post, or e-mail for more information V :m

Hope this helps - See you there!!!!

Due to the # of cars expected for the cruise, is there going to be a pre-registration?

Mark, there is a pre-registration however, I will be giving my 10 bucks at the Chevy lot - kickoff point :cool

This cruise is typically an informal cruise. In the past, we have taken up voluntary collections for specific charities such as the Chip Miller Charitable Foundation. Spring Skyline 2005 will benefit Blue Ridge Hospice, who took care of the final journey for a Corvette Forum member who died on Christmas Eve of liver cancer. Registration will be a $10.00 donation to Blue Ridge Hospice, payable at the cruise start point in Front Royal, Virginia.

info:
http://home.att.net/~jstrathearn/skyline_cruise/skyline_main.htm

Donation by check - must be recv'd 1 week before the event please:

PO Box 332
Shrewsbury Pa 17361-0332

Make checks payable to Blueridge Hospice,, suggested donation is $10.00

FX GS - here is a bit more for directions :cool

Who'da thunk that I'd forget to post directions and the itinery...
We will assemble at 8:30 AM to register and line up. We'll begin distributing door prizes around 9:30. Got lots of nice stuff this year. We will have a brief drivers meeting around 10:00 with some comments being made by the CEO of Blue Ridge Hospice. We will depart the car lot at 10:30 and have a police escort through town. The route out of town will be the same as the fall; down Main Street, south on 340. Instead of entering the park there in Front Royal, we will cruise directly down to Luray on 340, turning east on 211. We will go to Brookside for lunch BEFORE entering the park. We'll take our group photo at Brookside. After lunch, (maybe 1:00 PM?) we'll head up into the park and regroup at the Stony Man overlook. From there we'll take more pictures and then head down to Big Meadows. Should be in Big Meadows around 2:30 - 3:00 PM. The cruise ends at Big Meadows.
Here are some directions to the Jack Evans Chevy used car lot on Commerce Ave. in Front Royal, VA where we assemble for the cruise:
I come down 340 from the north. Once you pass under I-66 there will be an Exxon station and a Mac Donald's. Get your gas/potty time done here... (There is another "local brand" gas station about 1/4 mile further down on the right.) Stay on 340 south and cross a long bridge into town. There is a traffic light about a mile after you cross the bridge. 340 turns left at that light. There are two left turn lanes. Stay in the far left lane. You will go approximately 1/4 mile and 340 turns back to the right. The very next traffic light is Commerce Ave. Turn left onto Commerce Ave. (There is a Wendy's close to there.) Stay on Commerce Ave. for about a couple of miles or so. Jack Evans is on the right directly across from the Quality Inn. The car lot spans Main Street and Stonewall Ave. Go past Main Street and turn right into Stonewall. There is a traffic light there. We are lining up so that we exit the Main Street driveway of the car lot so you will not be able to enter the car lot from Main Street...
The following directions are copied from the Jack Evans webpage. I have not tried these routes but am confident that they are accurate.
From the Washington-Metro Area:
•Take Interstate 66 West to the "Front Royal / Linden" exit.
•At the bottom of the exit ramp make a left at the stop sign to a right onto Route 55 West at light. Front Royal will be about 6 miles from there.
•When you come into town, take a right at the 1st light which is Commerce Avenue. The Front Royal Business Park will be on your right and a 7-Eleven and KFC on your left. At the next light, we will be on the left at the intersection of Stonewall Drive and Commerce Avenue at 9 South Commerce Avenue across from the Quality Inn .
From Interstate 81:
•Take Interstate 81 either North or South (depending on where you're coming from) to Interstate 66 East.
•From I-81 take I-66 to the first exit which will be for Front Royal.
•At the end of the exit ramp, bear to the right taking 340 South. You will cross over both Forks of the Shenandoah River.
•At the second stop light, make a left following Route 340 South into town to first light. At this stop light, make a left, again taking Route 340 South. Follow Route 340 South and make a left at the next light onto the By-Pass (Route 522 South) which also becomes Commerce Avenue.
•We're a few miles up on your right at 9 South Commerce Avenue just across from the Quality Inn.
Drive safe! :beer
