Baton down the hatches :eek

I moved the Callaways to the upper garages tonight as the potential hurricane approches :eek

It is one of the highest points of land actually, in the whole county ;) (The East / West water flow split)

Hopefully this will all be a big "mis-forecast" but an ounce of prevention is worth... well you know :)

Chris, drive that Callaway down here to Texas. I'll take good care of it :Steer

I think Indiana may be closer than Texas. I'm sure there's room in my garage!

Yea, but I promise to clean every bit of carbon out.:gap

Easy fellas - If things get bad, I may have to take you both up on the offers ;)

The wind is awful and trees are aready coming down in the woods :eek

Power is still on - worse is yet to come *fingers x'd* :eek

Good luck to ya Chirs. Hurricanes would be my only reason for not living on or near the coast.

Good luck Chris,

It's a realy big one that's on it's way now! Hope it'll be over without any serieus damage.

Greets Peter.

We really didn't get much 100 miles in-land and what? 200 miles north of you Chris? We got a ton of rain and misc crap on the roads from trees but not even a power outage! It's amazing how the weather people hype the heck out of this stuff! :crazy

Whew - made it through the night & day - which brought zero power and water...

About 2pm, my wife said the power came on again and about 1 hour ago, we got our water back (but will need to boil it for consumption for a few days)

The Callaways were high and dry however, other people were not so lucky :( I saw many trees over on houses, garages, and carports throughout the county today :eek

Thanks for all the offers to hold on to the Callaways during the storm - Maybe I will send them South for the Winter ;)

Check out the pics - I may take my camera with tomorrow to work and see what else I can find... :eek

Good to hear you made it ok...
I am about 70 miles from where the ***** made land fall.
we got some good wind but it was my 8th hurricane defenetly the weakest thus far which is a good thing we lost power once for just a second. I know some people didnt fair so well I think the surges are what did the most damage and the majority or loss of life was due to car accidents...

I did have one tree go down in my front yard. poor thing was already dead but now its time to cut it down since my land lord never comes over.....

but the corvettes survived it just fine!

Hey Chris maybe I will see you down there . I hear they are asking for volunteers to head to Virginia to help out . I just might have to do it .

Chris, Im glad to hear you guys made it through ok. :beer

Was that your first hurricane?

Hurricane Fall-out... 2 days later

I "thought" all we got here was a little rain and some mediocre winds.. however, when I opened the garage door this morning the tree that is off the edge of the driveway where the trailer sits was laying flat on it's side pointing towards the neighbor's property! WTF? It wasn't a huge tree by any means. It may be 25 feet tall and the main trunk is less than 6" across. I dunno exactly what kinda tree it is but the leaves are the deepest maroonish purple color. I hated to lose the tree and started thinking of ideas of how to raise it back up. Obviously it only had ground surface roots because they were basically right outta the ground.

I thought... I can't get the truck out of the lower garage because the yard is hopelessly turned into a swamp for the next week. I also didn't want to do a repeat performance of getting the truck stuck like I did the Callaway in the early spring.. Just as I was thinking of who to call for some assistance with a 4-wheel drive truck my lawn guy pulls up! Saved! The yard was way too mushy to mow so we cut a deal whereby he'd help me raise the tree and I'd pay him his normal fee. No problem! We dug out the base around the tree to give it some more room to settle in when it was raised. Then we pounded in some 4' long metal stakes in and around the tree. I went inside and pulled out my boxed stash of ratcheting straps. We connected up to his monster 4x4 Ram 2500 (with BIG tires and 4" lift) and we pulled that ***** UP !!! We left the straps on the truck as we put all the other straps in place to stabilize the tree. Then we spent the next few minutes filling back in around the base of the tree with dirt and aligning the tree with our five point ratcheting strap plan. An hour later as I sit here typing this it's good as new! Well, that is, if the ground dries up!

Moral of the story is... just when the racing season is over... don't think that you're racing gear is out of commission! Those straps made this whole process very easy!

Was that your first hurricane?

Been through a few - 2nd one as a homeowner

Had a few big pines come down in my woods - nothing that endangered the property though ;worship

Today I saw more trees into homes or ready to fall onto property :eek

Maybe tomorrow I will remember the camers:duh
