these pics are from a car I was looking at buying. I will post how the broker described the car. Then, I will let the members weigh in on how they would describe each pic. described to me as fine, then surface rust. can you imagine how the trailing arms, body mounts, brake lines, and rear frame look? described as a repaint, "done right" This shows a cheap paint job, shiny yes, but certainly not done right. Look at the interior. Cheaply painted over with black vinyl paint. There is overspray all over the car. here is another shot of the "redone" interior. A gap between the center console and guage console, wires hanging down. This is redone? I have many other pics available to show. This car was described as a 3.5 out of 4, needing only TLC, no restoration. Bottom line for me is this car has been MISREPRESENTED. Based on the "broker's" description of the car, I sent a down payment. Oh yes, the money. At no point in our discussion was the word "non-refundable" mentioned. (I have all the emails to verify the descriptions of the car) Yet, when I changed my mind based on the pics shown here and many other, and asked for my money back, they decided to keep it, instead of saying, "hey, we would like some kind of compensation for our troubles". I would have been willing to kick them some money for their troubles. But, they didn't and just decided to keep my money. Ah fellas, I hope you kept any receipts to stuff you bought with my money. I'm getting my money back, I can assure you.
Now, I will let the members weigh in on how they would describe the pics. If anyone wants to see other pics, email me and I will gladly send them to you. YOU MAKE THE CALL! I won't even go into how the "broker" is trying to play the guy who looked at the car against me. He can and will stand up for himself. JUDGE FOR YOURSELF!

Based on my experiece this car is not worth much if it was repainted and the interior just redone it was a bad job. Might be time for the lawyers to get involved?

What a mess. I'm sory to hear about your trouble with the broker.
I don't know if it's OK to name the broker but it would be nice to have a list of these people who misrepresent the car.
Rob can we name names?

what does a nicely redone Vette like this go for,or should I say this one all most went for

Those pics show a car that could be considered a 3.5 out of 4.
If #1 indicates a pristine car and 4 indicates a wreck!

I hope you are able to get your money back, that certainly does not look like what you were mislead it to be.

sd,

Was the deposit paid to the Broker or to the car owner?

Either one should not keep the entire deposit... I can see the broker keeping a portion for expenses to inspect the vehicle, but I CAN'T see how he or the owner could represnt this as 3.5 on 4.0 scale, from the photo's you've posted..

If the broker is a lic. broker, I suggest contacting the Department of Motor Vehicles, or they may be able to point you to the right agency to bring legal pressure on him/her. A lawyer may help with writing a letter and address the legal issues and demand returning your deposit.

It's sad, but there are a whole lot of people out there that would screw their on family over for a few bucks..

Good Luck with getting this resolved soon...

Bud

What a raw deal. to think there are people out there doing deals like this. just goes to show you now a days you have to be careful.. hope you get your money back

SD, sorry to hear of what your going through. Base on the info you provided the car was misrepresented. I don't think this car was worth your money nor time. As far as your deposit, they have to return it to you or at least most of it. Fight it and don't let these SOBs get away with this. ''3.5 out of 4''??? bull chit!!!! Good luck.

PS. maybe you should mention their name, so the rest of the people know who these scumbags are.

sorry for the :mad , but I don't like people being taken for.....

I dont know how much the downpayment was but he has no reason to keep any of it.

Just looking for other opinions on this. Yes, the car was listed here in the for sale site. Don't worry, I'm getting the money back, it just may take a few weeks for it to work it's way back to my bank. I'm sure everbody knows what I am talking about. No, this "broker" wasn't licensed. It is his friends' car. Other quotes from his emails state the interior was "professionally stained". If a vinyl dash pad is stained, how can it flake off? The answer may be that it was painted black. Another doozy is from one of the earlier emails, "This can be driven home anywhere". "It it looks and drives PERFECTLY". What a frickin joke. No one and nothing is perfect. But, it's the way this car was described to me. Yes, the price did raise a red flag, but initially the "broker" came off as a genuine guy. He gave me a reference that I checked on and I didn't get a bad feeling when I got the answer. So, I continued to communicate with this guy. I even went as far as locating a U-haul store to line up a trailer and to find the closest bank in which to draw funds. I did this all because of his description. Then, the pics arrived and that is when it all went to heck in a hand basket.
Misrepresentation like this needs to be exposed, so others will not have to go through what I have and the bad part is, I should have known better. I learned a valuable lesson, that will never be forgotten.
Please continue to weigh in. I need everyones' support, and if called for, constructive criticism. Again, I have all the emails and can back up his bogus claims on the car.

I had something like this happen to me but I have no one to blame but my self because I actual looked that the car. The guy said all my car needed was some "TLC" 10k later the car still sucks.

I'm in a simialr situation right now. However, I bought the car from my brother-in-law's brother. Hard to call lawyers in on family. The car has a "pull" to the right. I noticed the right front wheel was pointing out when the left front wheel was straight. Ah, says I, a front end alignment. Took it to an alignment guy. He tells me, a couple days later, that there is not enough "something" for him to adjust the camber enough. He says I need some parts. OK, I say, make it happen. The parts come in and I give him a call. This guy is not hosing me, I trust him. He tells me the car was in a wreck at one time.!! The right front was pushed back. He needs to put it on his frame straightener first before he can do any of the other stuff. I'm sure the guy I bought it from did not know this. I will inform him tomorrow night. Bottom line, my $47 front end alignment will cost be about $250 by the time it is done. Certainly not too bad, if it makes it all good again, just frustrating.

Unfortunately the picture taker looker hired by Pacecar admittedly knew nothing about CorVettes. All he kept saying was he wanted it. The digital, pictures do not tell the truth about the condition of this car. If car needs to be drug into courtroom to prove value then open the doors. Cars like this sell for twice this much at Corvette shops around here. I will stand my ground on my rating on this car. But who am I? I tried to help a buddy sell a nice Vette. For 3 weeks I did everything I could to answer prospective buyers questions. I wish he could have come and seen car in person.
My self, I would be glad to refund any moneys I recieved in all the work I did in securing down and hold money. BUT--This whole thing turned very nasty very fast.
Deposit was just that---Hold car till Pacecar could pick it up--Juat that--No time limits. But when Pacecar sent e-mail defaming car and me and backed out on sale,
The deposit was forfeited. So Pacecar is willing to give me a nominal fee for my trouble. First I heard of this. My charge, 5% of selling price. Or take it out of forfeited deposit. But to keep everybody happy I would forgo my fee. But because I am being slandered my fee will stay with me. I am not a licensed dealer but then neither are most who sell on E-Bay. Just tried to do a friend a favor. I can have independant appraisal of car done by Corvette experts close to here for $3-400. But for what now.
Cancel the check--sue me--defame me--Your wrong about your opinion on this car.
And that's just my opinion. My name is Steve Westlund-142 Spring Road--Nelson, IL 61021 Harley1@coiinc.com--And I sell Corvettes every month and if you would like a list of my satisfied customers comments I keep them on file.

The guy that took the pics is an NCRS member and he isn't going to like reading what you said about him. As far as court goes, we are in the courtroom right now, the public courtroom. I posted those pics (I have many more) so the members could look and make their own call. I never defamed you in any email between us. I told you I changed my mind and asked for my money back. Perhaps this is the first time you have heard about a nominal fee from me. You certainly didn't suggest that, you just decided to keep my money. Any e-bay surfer knows that the seller lists in the terms of sale, "non-refundable deposit due at time of winning bid" or words to those liking. You never once mentioned that to me. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. The members who have posted certainly have made theirs very clear. Again, look at the pics and YOU MAKE THE CALL. BTW, Steve, I have the envelope with your return address on it. You wrote Dixon and now you write Nelson. Can't you even get your town straight?:L

I don't believe this is the place to continue this discussion. Both parties directly involved in this transaction need to take this off forum.

It is not for me or other members here to express anything other than their opinion, based on what is posted here. I don't consider my opinion cast in stone, but rather based on what was posted before my response.

I urge all parties involved to resolve this issue without using the Corvette Action Center Community as their personal podemum to discuss who said what, or what will or will not be done next.

It is wrong to use our Community " As far as court goes, we are in the courtroom right now, the public courtroom."
