I know this can be a point of serious debate between those who like to customize and those who like to keep it as original as possible, but I'm curious to see what those who have customized their C4s have done.

Personally, I sometimes think of adding ground effects or ZR1 wheels (not really much of a custom job, though) but then I go out and see my coupe and remember how much I love it just the way it was.

On the other hand, I can appreciate a "good" custom job anyday. I'm hoping those who have taken this road can post some pics.

Thanks!

I don't really consider mine a 'custom' but many do. It has the GS style paint but different colors with the ZR1 wheels and GS flares. Next month, motor will be upgraded to LT4+ configuration. Still factory Chevy/Vette parts. Maybe I'll add "GrandSport" badges to the side.

Here's a pic:

Personally, I don't care much for body kits, as most of the time they look to be simply "tacked on" more as an afterthought, than anything else.

My feelings is that whatever subtle changes that can be done to make your ride "unique" without being too garish is what you should strive for. If all you want is to be noticed, simply paint the car "Hot Pink" and put some wire spoked wheels on it along with a 3' wing. And don't forget the stickers. Gotta have some stickers for the ultimate effect.

I went with the newer hood accents, front parking light blackouts and the Y2K chrome wheels, and that will probably be the extent of my "customization".

By the way, your ride looks good as it is with what you've done. I'd leave it right there and just drive it and enjoy the smiles from other appreciative drivers. My pic is below, but it doesn't seem to want to load all of the time.

Karl,
Looks as good as it probably runs after your new mod's.
Many Congrat's
Also great to see you expanding out here.
Your Pal

Post this on the corvette forum also.
OK? OK!

Thanks for the kind words Tony. I'm just not a big fan of too many "external" mods for a Corvette. It's already a good looking car to begin with.

Well you asked for Custom stuff..

I have an 89 Coupe.
Swapped the Auto for a ZF6
Swapped the Dana 36 for the Dana 44
Built a new motor as well

Did the 1996 Body update with C5 taillights.

Swapped the 89 interior for a 1991 interior

if its red its RED.

very very nice jeff. you have done all the upgrades that i want except the dash which i already have mine being a `90. but i have the saddle brown stuff i dont mind but do not like. mine is red with the brown interior. i like red so red on red would be my fav. the other thing i would do is change the nose cone but not the ass. i like the `84-`90 butt. so now lets talk about money and or preference. i dont know about you but i gave 10k for mine and now have another 10k in it with motor, stereo, tires. ( done all the work myself, no labor charges). how much more should i expect to spend to change the interior to red and change the nose? ( i will do the paint work aswell.) that little combo will fill my bill almost for the same price i could buy a late model style for. but that leads back to preference. i want both or three an `82 would be nice.

If you shop around for red Pieces you could get everything for under 2K.. The seats are the most expensive.

Nice job

Tuna Looks real nice, was thinking how the ZR1 wheels would look.

MajikDragon Very suttle but just what you were looking for, the 2K wheels really set it off.

Jeff Great touch with the black wheels the tint doesn't hurt either, I really like the C5 taillights.

Now that most of my ideas are taken :duh I guess I'll have to come up with something different ;LOL

Actually I was thinking of getting away from the White on Red .... Maybe Admiral Blue on Grey ......

i think thats a little optimistic, i just changed my interior to black and spent almost 3500 doing all the work myself, there is little stuff you are going to want to change/add that really runs the price up, the leather seats and the deluxe door panels, were the most expensive parts that i bought

jeff,

how hard was the conversion to 6 spd?? thinking about doing this also, how much were all the parts? how long was your car down for?

Depends how mechanically inclined you are. I did not think it was too tough

I think I spent $4500, that was for Complete Clutch and master/slave cylinders, Pedals, Trans, Driveshaft and torque tube, along with a Disc to Disc D44.

Started in October working on it when I had time, but was done before Christmas

Also yeah the 2K for interior color change might be a little low, but if you look for all USED stuff it could get there

Dont know if you'd consider this "custom" but.............

Lower almost 3 inches all the way around with '99 C-5 chromed rims.

Here's mine with a red gs stripe, chrome zr1 wheels (17-11 back gives it a great stance)
It will probably stay like this since I'm almost to the brink of getting tacky with too much stuff on it.

Got to love mods.
See the sig below.

Mods. Whew. Might be easier to list what's still stock :).

1986 Vette, 140k miles. Lots of stuff was wearing out, so most things got replaced with non-stock stuff.

Things you can see from the outside:
- 1993-6 17" wheels
- brake-duct lower front valence (going on RSN)
- brushed-aluminum Vette-logo pedals (ditto. old ones were worn and slippery)
- RD-Racing CrossBar
- glovebox "pouch" kit replacing the breadloaf
- 5-point harness
- fire extinguisher kit (driver's seat underside)
- nearly-full set of poly bushings
- "Wheelskins" two-tone wheel cover ($35 beats $350 for a new wheel...)
- PowerEffects catback exhaust
- "Corvette Action Center" window clings - the important stuff!

Things you can't so easily see from the outside:
- 93+ hood prop rod upgrade
- 91 roller block with Accel/Lingenfelter intake, Lingenfelter cam, ZZ3 crank, LT1 pushrods/lifters, Comp Cams rocker arms, GM Perf. valve covers, and more. Don't think there's a single original piece left on the engine other than the PS pump, AIR pump, MAF and air filter housing, and AC stuff.
- TRACO headers & custom Y-pipe
- custom MEMCAL by Jeff
- TPIS custom shocks all around
- underhood light cutoff switch
- interior aux fan switch

Think that's it.
